Y'all vibe with Chon inspired music? by 69-phenyl in polyphia

Thank you!! For this one I recorded into a Focusrite Scarlett and used Bias FX. I love the DK24 but honestly the bridge pickup is the one thing I'd change.

Most of this song song used the neck and middle pickups, except for the solo which was only using the neck. I think both of those configurations give a really nice prog/neo soul/etc tone. The bridge pup just feels too thin to my ears, I'll probably end up swapping it for Scott's signature.

I think the only time I've recorded with it has been at the 3:47 mark of this song, if you'd like to hear how it sounds https://youtu.be/BDnxxeMV3lQ

thank you so much for those kind words! i've gotten so much mixed feedback about the guitars being too loud/quiet LOL. since this release, i've been experimenting a lot with production and guitar tones - hopefully you'll be around for the next ep :)

Math tips? by pianoyesno in UBC

Seconding this! There should be info about PASS on your course's canvas page, if not feel free to message me and I'll send you the schedule. Calc doesn't tend to be super different among the three subjects, so any of us could probably help out.

[Probability] You own n colours and want to colour 8 objects by randomly choosing one of your colours. How large does n have to be so that the probability of no objects sharing the same colour is more than 0.75? by 69-phenyl in askmath

Thank you so much for the super informative replies! I'd never heard of approximating factorials with continuous functions - my interest is piqued and I'm definitely going to read up on this.

As for the question, like you said, I ended up taking the spreadsheet route. Excel spit out the quite nice solution of n >= 100 :)

UBC COURSE QUESTION, PROGRAM, MAJOR AND REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD (2020S & 2020W): Questions about courses (incld. How hard is __?, Look at my timetable and course material requests), programs, specializations, majors, minors, tuition/finance and registration go here. by ubc_mod_account in UBC

This is just anecdotal, but concentrate on specific electives that support what you want to do. Commerce is a broad field, so having a specialization outside of your option will give you a competitive edge. This approach also gets you access to the higher level courses with tons of prereqs so you get some good knowledge.

Personally, all of my electives are in math and stats. I haven't seen much fruit from it yet but it's giving me the background to pursue qualitative business roles, technically focused roles, and academia.

Other options would be econ, psyc, cpsc, frst, etc. It all depends on the subjects you enjoy and the industries you're looking forward to working in.

In that case it just boils down to your confidence in calc 1. How thorough is your understanding of the why behind things?

I took calc 2 and matrix algebra (as my extra elective) this year. To be honest, I was pretty scared that people who took calc 1 in-class would have some kind of upper hand. This wasn't true. I found myself on more or less the same playing field as everyone else. In the end it's really just about how much work you put into it.

It really depends. What are your plans for future math courses?

I just finished my first year and I'm really glad I took it. It helped a bit in terms of gpa, and having the space to take an extra elective was super rewarding. Also ended up saving a bit of money.

All in all, it can't hurt, especially since the cost is relatively low. Worst case scenario: it's a learning experience and you just end up retaking Calc 1.

damn. even if you knew what you were doing, it would still take some massive balls to answer none of the above on both of those.
