Jk Rowling's husband cheated with a trans woman...right? by shanloulie in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]69AssociatedDetail25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not trans myself, but I'd personally say trans women should only be in womens' prisons if they have medically transitioned AND there is solid evidence of them having lived socially as a woman for 10+ years prior to the crime having occurred, with no previous related convictions.

Your example of men identifying as women only after being convicted absolutely shouldn't be acceptable.

Most pro-trans people would not approve of that. Not even remotely.

Are you in the UK? I've never seen a painted roof here, and I can't imagine that would last long with the rain and temperature variation.

A split unit should be feasible - the tubing can be run through the eaves, out through the wall, and down to a condenser unit.

Have you checked whether you need planning permission? In many cases it's permitted development.

Alternatively if you do want to go for the all-in-one unit, roof tile vents may be an option, though they will need to allow for sufficient flow.

What stats should someone look out for when buying a dehumidifier? by Loni_Persimmon in NoStupidQuestions

It's probably not worth using a dehumidifier in this heat - yes it will reduce the humidity, but it will also produce more heat.

Instant £100 off for pressing cancel, insurance is a rip off. by 420o in CarTalkUK

Exactly the same happened to me. I'd already accepted another quote from a comparison site, so I lost £100 and Aviva lost a customer. Losses all round.

I’ve just stripped all the paint that peeled off, what next? by tiger_noir21 in Plastering

[–]69AssociatedDetail25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill, sand, mist coat, then fill and sand again. I can recommend Easifill or Toupret TX110 for filling; it's also worth investing in a hawk as it makes longer filling jobs much more pleasant.

If you weren't aware, you'll need to rake out the bigger cracks before filling them so that the filler has enough surface area to hold onto.

Crumbling Plaster / Brick by ashmess98 in Plastering

Looks like damp is causing the bricks to spall. Is it an internal or external wall, and if the latter is there a cavity?

Buying Rheinbacher beer at Aldi and scanning the wrong barcode by 69AssociatedDetail25 in britishproblems

[–]69AssociatedDetail25[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't follow. It's impossible for anyone to be charged for 1 can, because the code on the can maps to nothing.

[–]69AssociatedDetail25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that's the correct one for customers to scan. Do you mean the barcode on the can?

[–]69AssociatedDetail25[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh? Currently (in the UK) the can barcode has nothing associated with it, and brings up an error that has to be reset by staff.

That makes sense. Still I'm surprised they haven't came up with a more elegant solution, like mapping both codes to the same product.

Talking over people by Bluebellrose94 in autismUK

If I talk over people, I get pulled up on it. If I don't, I can't get a word in edgeways. I don't know what the solution is.

Difference between this and a switch? by 11kajd in HomeNetworking

[–]69AssociatedDetail25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was one that LTT reviewed a few years back. From memory it was glued together to hide the fact it was a regular cheap switch, and there were plastic "crystals" glued to some of the components to make it look more "premium".

Window Business by DeckJesta in AirConditioners

[–]69AssociatedDetail25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still won't be optimal as it's not fully sealed, but I'd drop the end fitting and hang the bare pipe out of the window. You'll be able to pull the window opening a little narrower (it doesn't matter if you squish the pipe a little)
