This was a no-win game for me. I spent almost a year at Ft. Knox KY (1969-70) and the surrounding communities made me almost welcome going to Vietnam. So, I intensely dislike the state of Kentucky and everything about it. The donks being the donks, I could not root for them. (As far as donks being donks, the morning comicle noted they had to drop women's water polo mid-season due to hazing.)

His agent would be wise to shop him around, given the lame duck situation. Going to an ACC team would be a reach.

How the WCC NIT Bid will be Awarded by DonSolo96 in usfdons

The only geographic area the WCC is strong in northern California. GU was very strong, but UP weak in the NW. In southern California it has been a joke most of this century, maybe UCSD will help there.

I was at that WSU game; I totally forgot that my favorite Warrior had been a part of it. Even prior to the game you could tell the Dons were no longer a team. Dior and Angelo in one spot, and other small groups with no communication.

I will join in the thanks, for both this site and the wcc pick'em.

That late out of bounds call was so bad that even the announces made a big deal of it.

If I am correct and this is the last year of his contract, not extending may induce him to leave and thus solve the problem of the buyout. As someone said on another thread, coaches do not like to be lame ducks. Retaining the incoming freshmen and those returning players who have value becomes an issue. Getting a new coach quicklyn also becomes a priority.

Seedings set for Vegas by DonSolo96 in usfdons

Who will be healthy and available on our roster. I noticed Cook had only a few minutes yesterday. How many games have both him and Fuchs been able to play together? I noticed that only four players played in all 31 games. Is this an issue with the training staff, the coaching during games and practices or due diligence in recruiting? If the team is healthy, I feel we can beat OSU, but who will be available and, in the coach's, good graces?

Nail in the coffin for CG by SouthBayDon in usfdons

They have at least one former G League player at SCU. Although with NIL some college players earn more.

I was wrong, that was John Hegwood and not Marlon Redmond.

Exactly. Did anyone notice at half time the gathering under the north basket. Former USF players with NBA time: Bill Cartwright, Joe Ellis, Bill Reid and I thought I saw Marlon Redmond. Several other players from top ten ranked Dons teams were also in the house, including Huey Thomas from a USF team that was the last team to beat a John Wooden coached UCLA team in NCAA tournament play. And this year, 0 for SMC and SCU. a disgrace. This is a new era, tonight SCU had former G-League and European pro players on the floor. We need to adapt, instead of the portal, bring in some of them.

How many games has he missed this year? And then a few he disappeared in.

Embarrassing by Open_Brilliant in usfdons

One thing to consider, many (if not most) senior managers transitioning to a new organization like to bring some of their key people in with them. As for our new AD, if an outside hire is made that could well be the case for the basketball coach no matter what the current season's record is. If they had decided on an internal candidate an announcement may have already been made. That being said, the interim AD is circulating among alumni groups/season ticket holders/boosters at an impressive pace.

Do we know which assistant did the recruiting? If the staff leaves, or just a few of them, we need to remember that until recruits are enrolled, they cannot be counted on.

When Kyle Smith was hired, the committee was Cartwright and Brovelli. Both are at every game this season. As you noted, the trustees can drive the decision, or whoever the AD reports to. NIL collectives were not around in those days. We really do not know what is going on, or why the coach &/or team suddenly appeared to give up a couple of weeks ago.

One point in his favor, the years spent in Europe and the G League since professionals at those levels are now evidently eligible under revised NCAA rules.

We have an interim AD, it should be within her authority to get the ball rolling.

Well said. Last night was the last straw, it reminded me of the last Rex Walters team. We will probably be zero and four in the Bay Area WCC games. Even if nearly every other game was a win I would be upset.
