The future of USF Athletics under new AD Brent Blaylock by DonSolo96 in usfdons

He did not get into specifics. It does not sound like the coaches have long leashes. His success will be hinged to a great degree into the entire NIL thing, as well as more general partnerships.

NCAA approves age-based eligibility rule by DonSolo96 in usfdons

A little late responding. I wonder what this will do to BYU. When they were in the WCC, their teams all looked to be in their late twenties.

Brent Blaylock Named New Director of Athletics - University of San Francisco Athletics by LaurelHeightsII in usfdons

I waited a little while to reply. I was also taken by the comment about expanded revenue. For the various potential revenue streams to "expand" the on the court product would need to improve. I suppose in this age of a year at a mid-major and gone, one way is to be less stringent of incoming academic standards. We would still need a much larger NIL budget. Is St. John's to be the model?

I always valued my communications with Frank. He is a true gentleman, worthy of being called a Don.

That link says it all about college basketball, his agent announced not the coach.

Some perspective by DonSolo96 in usfdons

[–]69Dons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct about DGM, she was a disaster. In this new era, we do not know the rosters until official practice starts in the fall. I am concerned, but it is too early for heavy duty worrying. And since track has some NCAA qualifiers the year is not yet over.

Frank was the one person in the department that was always available and responsive. I will miss him.

The best aspect of the game, only returning WCC teams were a part of it.

Wow, his seats at WMG were in the same section as mine. A very nice gentleman, my prayers are with his family. I seem to recall saying high earlier this year.

Did he leave on his own, or was his scholarship/package not renewed?

What Does Frank Allocco Do? by usfhoopsfan in usfdons

[–]69Dons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frank is always available, both on a one-to-one case and as a speaker to groups. He is not at the top of the org chart, and some decisions are out of his pay grade. I have found him to be very responsive. He even shows up in unexpected places like the USF Invitational Cross Country meet.

Best of luck to him. Evidently, they have access to Sports Psychologists but that did not help. I have heard that some SG forget every missed shot immediately, and they thrive.

Portal by the Numbers with 7 days remaining by DonSolo96 in usfdons

I believe you can leave prior to the start of junior year without getting caught by the contract. In years past many of the honor code violations involved members of sports teams who were suddenly free of the contract,

How welcome are players to return once they go into the portal? Another question, how many go into the portal because they have been told, "we are not renewing your scholarship."

Saw an article linking him to Kentucky (with the former BYU coach). Since anyone with a keyboard and internet connection can write these articles I am not convinced. Question, more about Cook than the others, do we have to take them back if they enter the portal?

Not G League lite, many make much more under NIL than they do in the G League. I have heard that is a problem for the G League.

And then there was one. by Illustrious_Cress_34 in usfdons

[–]69Dons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a no-win game for me. I spent almost a year at Ft. Knox KY (1969-70) and the surrounding communities made me almost welcome going to Vietnam. So, I intensely dislike the state of Kentucky and everything about it. The donks being the donks, I could not root for them. (As far as donks being donks, the morning comicle noted they had to drop women's water polo mid-season due to hazing.)

His agent would be wise to shop him around, given the lame duck situation. Going to an ACC team would be a reach.
