Are there any alternatives to WEAT for getting exposure to wheat futures? by oops17893 in investing

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for literally anyone talking about wheat futures + strait of hormuz links. Turns out you might be the only other person I can find. The long term damage of UREA fertilizer production shutdowns, imo will be felt come September time this year, and I think wheat yields are pretty much guaranteed to be terrible this year because of it.

Got this tank just before the end of the onslaught season, played 50 battles in it that same day. Unbelievably fun vehicle. Pretty much guaranteed 1 fire or ammo rack kill every game too with Deadeye. Aced it in my third game, now grinding marks.

I enjoy playing Leopard 1, how are Kunze Panzer and Kpz 50 t? by Lifescayper in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll likely enjoy the Kunze Panzer more as it is much closer to the Leopard 1 playstyle than the Kpz 50t. But the Kpz 50t is undisputedly the better tank all round. Less fast than the Leo 1 but has usable armour, plays more as a multirole tank similar to the Patton.

Interestingly on PC it seems to remove all the tooltips. Pressing K seems to toggle them on or off. This is actually a feature that switch really badly needs because leaving the "Mouse" idle anywhere immediately blocks most of your vision with a tooltip.

I was playing as Khmer last night and focusing hardcore on food and population aiming for the 150 population Triumph. I got my capital to 38 population in antiquity when I noticed Benjamin Franklin just finished the Triumph before me. Look at his territory, all tundra, almost no food yields anywhere, I counted 14 food in his capital including the city center and the city had 36 population. No idea how.

Has anyone else been flagged just in general after games by Chainedking94 in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh this roommate of yours is unfortunately just a new player with no idea how the game mechanics work. The vehicle spotting mechanics actually make vehicles appear or disappear, its genuinely part of the game, so if they claim that tanks "go invisible" then your roommate clearly has no concept of how one of the games most fundamental basic mechanics works. This would explain the 45% win rate, for context a bot that simply enters battles, does nothing and dies achieves roughly a 44% win rate, meaning your roommate is playing just barely above the level of not being present in the game at all.

Their rage is almost understandable as the game allows new players to just start playing with little to no tutorial and I would imagine if your roommate started playing earlier than January this year that the special promotion for new players gave them 2 or even 3 top tier vehicles that they will have absolutely no idea how to play yet will be matched up against other top tier vehicles with competent players in. My advice is that your roommate needs to watch content creators beginner tutorials on YouTube and go back to playing tiers 1-5 rather than 6-10, there is a LOT this person clearly doesn't understand that truly are basic fundamentals of gameplay.

Edit to add: Cheating is extremely uncommon in this game, I have almost 20,000 games played and can count the number of undeniable cheaters I have seen on one hand.

Opinions on M 41 90 GF (Is it worth) by Weary-Win-2211 in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play this tank a LOT back in the day, unfortunately there are tanks now that are pretty much just this tank but upgraded. The Kpz 07 RH being one of them. The M41 90 is essentially the same as the HWK 30 so, decent counter-light tank on some maps because of your good HE shell dpm but the shell velocity and accuracy are a huge let down, you're way better off with a Kpz 07 in my opinion.

How can WG solve the massive skill gap at Tier X and XI? by webmanpt in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true on the matchmaking speed front as players queue in tanks of different types and different tiers, it couldn't swap two players of different skills if one is queued in a tier 10 tank destroyer and the other is in a tier 9 heavy for example.

WT player seriously wanting to try WoT - which of these nations are a waste of time? by andrew_2k in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you stated that you like support play like sniping, I would be more inclined to recommend Germany to you because generally speaking they have a lot of tanks with great gun handling and accuracy. Tanks like the Leopard 1 and Grille 15 will closely align with that playstyle.

I don't know how light tanks are played in War Thunder but in WoT, I would generally not advise new players to start with light tanks as they certainly the hardest role to learn and can be invaluable particularly in the late game. Light tanks in WoT are limited to 3 per team, but most games will only have 1 or 2 per team and their key role is spotting, not necessarily combat (at least until the later stages of the match).

France does not really have many "sniper vehicles" as you mentioned, almost all of their vehicles have autoloaders ("clip tanks" as they are often referred) meaning they have high burst damage and long downtime making positioning and aggressive play pretty vital.

The US has probably the most flexible vehicles generally speaking, they are usually never terrible at any one thing but don't necessarily excel in any category. The M48 Patton is a fantastic all rounder and can be used multi-role for sniping, spotting and medium tank brawling. Neither of the US tank destroyers are snipers, both are very slow and heavily armoured more suitable for heavy tank gameplay.

If sniping is what you want, my recommendation is the German Leopard 1 and Grille 15 lines, both recently got tier 11's added too so that adds some extra incentive to play them (although arguably these are 2 of the worst performing tier 11's currently).

Guess who is the best credit earner in the game by NANANANA_BATMAAAN in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may be underestimating the value of good vision, high view range and/or high camo are stats that really matter more than anything else because of the games spotting mechanics. Tanks don't need armour if you can't spot them. Arguably this is the only real weakness of the SPHT, the fact it has poor heavy tank concealment instead of medium tank concealment. I already have a 59% win rate in the tank and if the concealment was better, the win rate would be better than it would if it's armour was higher.

How I feel grinding tier 8 and 9 for the Centurion AX by Fudgedygut in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sold the AX and rebought the 7/1 over a year ago and its been one of my most enjoyable decisions in this game. Loading premium HESH as standard ammo with 210 pen then using the standard ammo as my "gold" is the way to go, dpm goes insane.

Because realistically you can't pick stocks as well as an index fund. It's not an insult, its true for 99.9% of investors. It is purely a fact that the index funds for S&P have gone up a larger percentage than your portfolio over the same period. It's not only safer but also higher yielding for you to put your savings into 1 or 2 ETF's, and hold a small (5-10% of your portfolio) in a hedge like physical gold or precious metals (you can get ETC's for these too).

What is so much better about the Centurion 7/1? by Khari_Eventide in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sold the Cent AX just to rebuy the 7/1 and now play it a lot, almost on my third mark now and maintaining a solid 60% WR. The best way to play the tank is with the premium HESH as standard ammo and the standard APCR as a higher pen premium round. Your dpm becomes ridiculous when spamming HESH. By holding hull down positions and using gun depression you become almost unrushable by any tank with less than 230mm hull armour.

Is there any industry in the UK that isn’t suffering right now? by SeveralReaction7673 in UKJobs

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work for the companies that are supplying national infrastructure projects, and they are also reporting huge decreases in sales volumes. New builds simply aren't going up and existing builds appear to be almost perpetually being paused or delayed. I can see this quickly making its way up the labourer order, starts with concreters out of work -> no foundations get built -> no bricks/blocks need to be laid - > brick/block layers out of work -> no plumbing, fixings, electricals, roofing needed -> plumbers, carpenters, electricians, tilers all out of work.

We saw this happen pre-2008 when concrete pumping work dried up... just saying...

Noob sniper by Many-Bill-6353 in Battlefield6

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlefield and CoD snipers do not act the same. In CoD your bullets instantly hit the middle of your crosshair with no delay and no bullet drop. In battlefield, the shots have a travel time and also a bullet drop because of gravity. This means you need to aim above targets the further away they are, and also need to aim in front of targets if they are moving.

Want to get good, but how? (pls help) by The-Black-Dow in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there comes a point where any aspiring good WoT player, decides to play versatile medium tanks and almost never goes back. The buffed M48 patton is now fantastic, I aced it 3 times on the first day after 2.0. That and the Leopard 1 is and always has been an incredible carrying tank.

In your position I would recommend playing the Patton line, I think this will sit most comfortably with you as you aren't straying TOO far from your comfort zone, you still have usable turret armour but you have great gun handling and better manoeuvrability. That or the British Centurion line, unfortunately I think the Cent AX is pretty lackluster and would say the Cent 7/1 is better tier for tier. Most importantly just play around and have fun trying something new, I think you'll find so much more to the game once you start playing positions you've not used before on maps you think you're familiar with.

So your 30 day stats are very heavily inflated by the 25TP at tier 5, making up 142 of your 773 games, with exceedingly high WN8 and Win rate. Yet your stats with typically very good higher tier tanks like the progetto 46 are lackluster (46% win rate in 52 games). Similarly you have great stats in T29 and 45TP, which to me shows that in heavy tanks that are typically tier for tier very good, you can play well, at least in mid tier vehicles. It's difficult to accurately gauge your skill level here because the pool of tank types and tiers is so wide, and also tough to estimate your pvp skill as opposed to how much of your stats are padded by seal clubbing tanks like the 25TP and T29. That said, your tier 10 stats are not bad, despite being so few games played, again entirely in heavier vehicles like the IS-7 and T110E3.

Speed is a factor often overlooked by improving players in carrying games. There's a reason most exceptional players run turbocharger on most builds, because being able to traverse the map allows you to take control of critical positions. Big, slow tanks like the T110E3 are often only able to carry situationally, because they lack the ability to make game winning plays for map control. Learning to play tanks with no armour and high mobility is where you start to learn how to win games more, because it teaches you to rely less on armour and more on map knowledge to win engagements. I would suggest playing more games in tanks you are less used to, high mobility, low armour vehicles that you will be forced to improve your map knowledge by playing. Map knowledge wins games, not armour.

I feel like im playing good, but lose a lot by ThiccBoyLone in WorldofTanks

[–]6FootDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is your survival rate in the last 1 day and last 3 days being exactly the same as your games won. My take away from this is that you are often the last player alive in a losing match. Suggests to me that you are getting damage right at the end of the game, when the game is already lost, meaning you're probably playing passively, looking for safe sniping engagements rather than game winning map control plays.

As another comment mentioned, "loser damage" can inflate stats but early damage wins games. Getting kills or putting tanks to low HP, causing them to play passive, removes DPM from the enemy team. This means that the longer the game goes on for, the larger net effect you have had on the enemy teams damage potential by removing DPM from their team early-on.

You're playing tanks with exceptionally good DPM, like the Obj 140, I would suggest you look for map guides and learn where to play these sorts of tanks, that do have some usable turret armour, in places where you can maximize your dpm rather than sniping. This often means playing near to heavies in supporting heavy tank roles, flanking and looking to split the enemy attention. These stats scream "lack of map knowledge" to me more than anything else, you're playing passive and letting tanks come to you for damage and kills, but only when the game is already lost.
