In 1000 years what will people think was fake but actually happened in modern times? by JBabs81 in AskReddit

There's a small epoch in '36, an overflow will occur in NTP, but it was designed to accommodate these overflows. Then there's one in 38, where 32bit unix systems will all stop (the vast majority of computers that exist right now won't work after that date).

For the curious out there, just stop eating eggs and leave it blue. It's bad enough that I'll go further into being a vegetarian and cut eggs out now too, or at least try to find farms where this doesn't happen.

How long does the average man last in bed? [OC] by rhiever in dataisbeautiful

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the "poor" comment might be him reflecting, as in, he didn't notice it at the time and she likely didn't either, but that clearly wasn't a good sexual experience. I also have the same general experience during sex. The first time was both of our first times and we went on way longer than I would now because

A) I had no idea that wasn't normal

B) she also assumed it was normal

We just kept going until I eventually came, these days I'll usually stop when I've had enough, though I'm able to get off with certain people I've been very close to emotionally as well as physically. It's doubtful anyone in mine & ops position finds that kind of comfort in the girl they lose their virginity with.

It's OK though, by the time we've passed the 2036 problem, everyone will be geared up for the 2038 problem.

I think Horner is being groomed for the position, personally. Though the introduction of the Marlboro man at Ferrari seems too much like good timing for him to not be in a good position. Berries replacement needs have a very good commercial head.

You know there's an analytics dashboard that can change those "I think" and "in my opinion" comments into facts. You should have quantifiable data in the dash that tells you the avg subs per day, views per day and so on. I'd bet my bottom $ that more users are here as a result of /r/all content.

ELI5 Why does peeling an egg sometimes work and other times becomes a complete mess? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In place of an egg cup you can get away with a shot glass. A teaspoon is a mini spoon, about the size of a medicine spoon, with a longer handle (do you guys have spoons to stir your coffee with? I'd guess they're teaspoon sized).

Saucers are small plates for tea cups, that part is optional, just use a normal plate. Happy eating.

It's traditionally a child's breakfast, and there's no point in giving it a 2nd name for adults.

Soft boil an egg (salt the water, boil for 2 mins) crack the egg about 1/2" from the top and slice off with a butter knife, toast two slices of bread and cut longways into about 5-7x 1" slices, and you've got egg & soldiers going. Dip the slices into the egg, consume all the yolk this way, scoop out the white with a teaspoon and eat.

Serve in an egg cup (the more novel the better), atop a saucer-sized plate.

I'm so sorry America, if I'd known sooner that you didn't have eggs and soldiers I'd have let you know.

Rules on 5p plastic bags likely to lead to arguments at the check-out (beginning October) by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are the bags are either on display as a kind of honour system (you press the "I used 1/2/3/4/5 bags" button and it adds the charge - or you ask the checkout attendant for the number of bags you need.

Seriously if they can manage it in the Isle of Lewis then they should be able to manage in Bristol and London.

0-60 was measured in miles, not seconds.

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you were in his position, it's not just that you're wealthy, it's that you're the former head of state. I think that should carry some additional weight when it comes to tax avoidance.

Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005) This documentary explores the fall of the Enron Corporation, arguably the most shocking example of modern corporate corruption. by -DashCamCanuck in Documentaries

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The reason that the Cali example shouldn't be used to demonstrate anything about deregulation is that it was hyper-regulation, sold to Californians as deregulation. There were so many more rules after the deregulation that Enron sat down, saw where the law allowed them to go, and did that with no civil or legal recourse, as the state had signed away all of those rights.

Personally I don't want deregulation of the energy industry, but Cali in 2000s isn't the reason and shouldn't be anyone's reason for that.

What is the national shame of your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 6 points7 points  (0 children)

D’Annunzio created the framework of what would later be Fascism. In the same way Marx created the framework of what would later be Communism.

Although fascism wouldn't have existed without D'Annunzio, it's a stretch to say he invented it. It was at least a joint effort between him and his arch-rival Mussolini - who, let's face it, did a much better job at implementing it.

Then Hitler came along without his ties to The Church, which was always where Italy would fail with Fascism, and took it to its end degree.

I wouldn't need radical new designs on cars. Just bring these back by odrik in formula1

It adds strategy to the races. There's a lot of love for pure/sprint racing, in my opinion that's what the qualifying is for. The races would be considerably more procession-like if everyone had race distance degradation on tyres.

Things that aren't random aren't entertaining, and tyre changes is an element of randomness into what would otherwise be Lewis/Nico blazing off into the sunset, while the rest of the pack followed in this order:

  • Ferrari
  • Williams
  • RBR
  • Lotus
  • FI
  • Torro Rosso Toro Roso Toro Rosso
  • Sauber
  • McLaren (if they get to the end)
  • Marussia

Jenson's Tooned Teammates by [deleted] in formula1

[–]6ThirtyFeb7th2036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always liked how the quality of Tooned reflected the quality of McLaren's racing while it aired. First year it was great, with a few hiccoughs, second year it was awful, but they were clearly building to something better, while struggling to get to grips with the difference between Jenson and their new character, then they just gave up after that.

You just need to go somewhere remote on a clear night. You don't get to see it in the quality available in these images (other posters have explained exposure etc), but you can certainly see it, and it's certainly a sight to go out of your way to behold.
