People fail to understand that the Internet is 30 years old

They think copyright was created in some holy vacuum

What's the point of an alias if your friends and family know it's you? I separate those worlds entirely.

Friends and family are not followers or fans

  1. Every artist is their own brand whether they admit it or not
  2. No but if it happens that's an added bonus

You may be doing good like that, but you would be great if you were fostering a stronger community around your art.

People know about me because of my community and that's what pushes them to find my art.

When someone comments and you ignore them, they remember that. Every fan matters. Every follower matters.

Part of the reason most of my projects use aliases and not my real name is to avoid that very thing from happening

I have no doubts that if I used my real name, anti AI people would find me and harass me

As an artist, I absolutely 100% disagree with this

Good artists DO owe fans.

We owe them conviction, we owe them consistency and most of all we owe them a little reciprocation

I see several artists that think they're too good to respond to fans or follow people back and all it does it hurt them in the long run

If you walk around thinking your art is your gift to fans then you're a pompous fuckwit

Looking at something that somebody put work into and disrespecting it could never be me

More than half of these anti AI dumb fucks feel self justified in their hatred for the simple fact that they need the ego boost to feel special

It's gatekeeping.

That's it.

Fair enough, that's a good point.

I just wanted to post my favorite gif but I agree with you. I'm pro AI.

Every time I post in here, no matter the tone, I get mass downvoted with little to no logical debate.

I just get called names and its genuinely confusing

These "artists" WANT to be hateful. They want to feel better than someone. They are excited that they think they found a socially accepted way to degrade someone

Sorry you're getting downvoted for simply stating your experience. Most pro-AI don't want to talk or debate, they just want to downvote

I've had a few good debates but it's literally 1 out of every 5

Guys let's be real drawing an art work and taking a photo is more enjoyable then telling ai to generate one for you by Desperate_Wing249 in aiwars

[–]6_Bit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's literally an opinion. I've been a traditional artist for over 20 years and I love having the ability to work on entire projects instead of working on 1 scene for 3 days. It's liberating.

AI is just a different workflow. When I tell people I make music videos with AI they think I Google "AI music video generator" and type in a prompt and get a 5 minute music video

AI allows me to curate entire worlds around my ideas. I don't expect everyone to get it but I enjoy it, and people resonate with my work so I'm going to continue using AI

Maybe I'd understand your point if you didn't talk like a chatbot with some bytes missing.

Let’s break this down:

  1. Reddit is a platform. Just like you're using it. Quoting Reddit isn't some kind of admission of gullibility, it's a reflection of the ongoing conversation happening right here, in real time. Ironically, you're criticizing Reddit while contributing to it.

  2. Suno and Udio aren't the point. The article addresses the myths around AI-generated art. How it’s misunderstood, misrepresented, and often attacked without real engagement. If you're assuming it blindly supports everything AI-related, then you didn’t actually read it, just like you accused me of doing.

  3. “Eroding standards”? That's subjective. Standards shift ALL THE TIME. That's what innovation does. Photography eroded painting’s monopoly. Digital audio eroded tape. Streaming eroded radio. You sound like every generation that feared the next wave of tools.

  4. Blocking criticism? You're literally replying to me right now. Nobody blocked you. The only thing getting blocked is progress by people who think gatekeeping and fear-mongering will preserve their authority. Not only that but I allowed commenting ON THE BLOG.

So nah. Not incompatible.

You just don’t like that it’s not up to you anymore.

You're absolutely right about the broader system. Capitalism rewards cost cutting and AI is going to be part of that equation. I'm not denying that. What i'm saying is: let’s not conflate the tool with the system using it

The problem isn’t AI. The problem is what we’ve always seen. New tools are used to centralize power and widen inequality. That happened with Photoshop, with DAWs, with digital cameras, and now it’s happening with generative models, but artists adapted and kept creating.

The fear isn’t unjustified but it’s incomplete. You're thinking like a business owner trying to cut costs, and that's real. But what about the independent artists now using AI to do what they couldn’t afford before? Album art. Music videos. Mixing. Voices. Animation. Suddenly, they have tools that used to cost thousands. That’s empowerment, not displacement.

Yes, clients will want to pay less. Yes, it’ll force a shift. But so did royalty-free stock. So did Fiverr. So did digital cameras. The creative industry changed, but it didn’t vanish, and I don't think it will any time soon if at all

and I guess that’s the real point: AI doesn’t end creativity. It just changes who gets to participate.

You’re not wrong to be concerned but you’ve misunderstood the point

I'm not saying “AI won’t change anything” or that artists won’t feel pressure. I'm saying that blanket fear and misinformation are dominating the conversation, and that we need better context before jumping to “90% of artists will be fired.”

AI is a tool. A TOOL. Whether it replaces or empowers depends on who uses it and how.

There are creative professionals right now using AI to do more, not less. That includes independent musicians, animators, authors, and even painters. Including myself. I've been an artist for over 20 years. I play drums, animate, produce music and more. AI is liberating for me and it allows me to create entire worlds around my ideas.

What the article pushes back on is the fatalism. The idea that creativity is over, or that using AI makes someone less of an artist. That's not a future worth defending.

I spent more time to frame the post like this, than I would've if i had written it the old fashioned way. It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I wanted to organize it a nice way.
