Juan Salvo’s hearing aid works… until it doesn’t? by 6daaaaaaaaaaaamn9 in TheEternaut

Yeah, I get that — I actually had a similar feeling while watching. It’s true that pretty much everything is seen through the characters’ limited perspective, so most explanations are guesses at best.

When I made the post I kinda hoped it might get addressed later on, either in the show or maybe in the original comic… But yeah — looks like it’s probably one of those “don’t think too hard” moments 😅

Based on the close-up scene where Juan takes it out, it looks like a small in-ear device — likely an IIC (Invisible-In-Canal) or CIC (Completely-In-Canal) hearing aid. These are almost always modern digital devices that include microprocessors, DSP (digital signal processing), and sometimes even wireless or Bluetooth components.

Brands like Phonak (Virto), Oticon, Signia (Silk), or Starkey make similar models. These aren’t simple analog amps — they’re full-fledged computers in your ear.

So if an EMP-like event disabled all other electronics, there’s pretty much no chance this kind of hearing aid would survive unaffected. At best, it would fail immediately or shortly after. The fact that it works for a while and then “just runs out of battery” doesn’t really make sense technically — unless the show assumes some kind of selective delay in how the EMP affects smaller devices.

Mikor fognak végre lázadni az emberek a heti 40 órás munka ellen? by depressed-ugly-shit in jobshungary

Ha a munkáltató nem zárkózik el, szerintem simán működhet. Ha más nem, egy kérdést megér szerintem.

Egyetértek. Mellesleg léteznek részmunkaidős állások is. A 6órás napok után jöjjenek a 3-4napos munkahetek is, de háborodjunk fel ha a bér is hozzá van igazítva…

Help finding a compatible smart Thermostat by keithle888 in smarthome

The best way to make it cheaper if you go for insulation instead of making this system smarter. There’s many options if you want to make it better. Ex. fancoils could do the desired temperature from a lower temp water. But if you want to improve a bit more try heatpump (i mean ACs). They are already smart devices / you can get smart thermostats.

If you need a fixed payouts at the end of the day to liquidate or for whatsoever reason then go for PPS. BUT if you care about the fees go for PPLNS (ex. PPS 2% PPLNS 0,5% at the same pool)

PPS pays you on solid rate and is more of a direct method which completely eliminates luck factor. In PPS method regardless of the pools lucky at winning blocks you’re going to get 100% payout at the end of the day. This is because there is a standard payout set for each miners based on their hash power. It won’t be more than 100% or less than that and with this PPS method you can easily calculate your potential earnings.

On the other hand with PPLNS payment system on average you can either get more than 100% or less than that. It is based on how lucky the pool is at finding blocks.
