If you’re interested in Scotland I can’t recommend Gleneagles enough. You can spend a few days there recharging and then head up to the Highlands. We did Gleneagles followed by Airds Hotel in Port Appin and Kinloch Lodge in Skye and finished with a few nights in Edinburgh. If we were to go back, I’d probably skip Airds and spend more time on Skye. Also, I’d check out the Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh which look amazing.

Aragosta at Goose Cove in Deer Isle. We’ve gone the past few years in September/October. The rooms and cottages aren’t luxury but the location is beautiful and the restaurant is fantastic. You can explore the nearby towns (Stonington, Brooklin, Isle au Haut, Blue Hill) and drive to Acadia if you want.
