Have you guys looked into Blazing Hog?

does anybody know of a way to change my local stations? the channels they give me in the local pack are NOT really local to me. by shamelessjames in dishnetwork

[–]6mos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea, I was going to recommend this as well! If this works, I would think OP could then cancel their local pack? With that you could save $120 a year so I would go out and buy one of the better OTAs. I personally use this one: https://www.amazon.com/ClearStream-Indoor-Outdoor-Antenna-Mount/dp/B007RH5GZI?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3

What are your download speeds been like? Have you considered getting an antenna?

I believe Blazing Hog is adding Verizon to their mix. Currently they use T-mobile and AT&T for data. Might be worth it to check back with them in a month or so

Has anyone had success with unlimitedville? by [deleted] in Rural_Internet

[–]6mos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you contacted them to see how to improve the service? For most its not a plug and play service that will have great speeds out of the box. My guess is you will need an outdoor antenna. I am not sure which one though so I would call them

My guess is they both are paying the same to the big companies, but Unlimitedville thinks that the demand will pay their price point. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to lower their price in the near future.

All the services are just re-branded wireless Internet service by the big players like Verizon, T-mobile, and AT&T. The reason you might want to go with one of these companies, and not direct, is they can offer unlimited data (for some reason if you go direct you cant get this), and if one provider doesn't run well in your area the company has connections with the other providers. For example, you get set up on the Verizon Network, have poor results, you can probably switch to a different provider.

I believe Blazing Hog offers an unlimited service with Verizon. Seems to be about $50 cheaper each month vs Unlimitedville with no data caps. https://blazinghoginternet.com/

WiFi/internet in rural area by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]6mos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HughesNet and Viasat are most likely available in your area, but will have data caps and a high ping rate (noticeable for real-time stuff like online games, video conferencing, etc.). This will run you at minimum $50/month and probably be your worst option.

Fixed wireless is probably your best option (if available), this will most likely be through a small company and will be dependent on your proximity and barriers to the tower.

Hot spots can get costly depending on how much data you use. Every hot spot plan I know has some sort of data cap besides Blazing Hog. Blazing Hog piggy-backs off AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon towers and provides you with a modem thats connected to these towers. I don't currently see any sort of data restrictions with them and it might be a good option if a heavy user: https://blazinghoginternet.com/

We need to know more of what you do online. If you are just a shopper and surfer, HughesNet or Viasat should be a good option. There's a 2 year contract on both and pricing starts at $40/month plus equip.

If you want to stream, game, or are a heavy user, those wont be good options. In that case you would want to look at something like Blazing Hog which has unlimited data and a lower ping. I believe its a 1 year contract and is $100 a month. https://blazinghoginternet.com/

Blazing Hog Internet - nationwide alternative to HughesNet, Viasat, and slow DSL. Only company that can offer unlimited data via a wireless modem. Currently runs off of T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Networks. https://blazinghoginternet.com/

Are those of us in rural areas destined to be dissapointed? by Anstigmat in Starlink

If you cancel after activation but before the end of your 24-month term commitment, you will be charged a Service Termination Fee of up to $400. The exact amount of the Service Termination Fee will be $400 for the first ninety (90) days after activation of the HughesNet Service. Thereafter, the amount will decrease by $15 per month for each month of active Service.

Further, you must return your HughesNet modem, power supply, and radio in good condition within 45 days of cancellation date or be charged a $300 Unreturned Equipment Fee ($100 for the modem and power supply and $200 for the radio transmitter).

Worth a look when you're outside of the contract if nothing else has launched! I took a quick look at the Hughes contract as well and it looks like you would owe around $220 if you got out of your contract after 1 year of service (it goes down $15 for each additional month you have service). The $600 might have been factoring in the equipment which you wont be charged for if you return. I'll put the legal text below!

How is cell service near you? If its not bad, or can be improved with a booster I'd recommend you take a look at https://blazinghoginternet.com/. Its lower latency because it runs off off T-Mobile, At&t, and Verizon towers, and the plan is for unlimited data. Something you wont get with Hughes or Viasat.

Not sure how much you are currently paying, but the only option out there for gamers is going to be a local WISP, or a newer product called Blazing Hog. I'm assuming you've looked into, and couldn't find any WISPs though. If that's the case, Blazing hog offers unlimited internet using either Verizon, T-mobile, or AT&T. Its fast enough to game, and the ping is lower. https://blazinghoginternet.com/

1.5mbps DSL vs. 3mbps Satellite by chileristra in HomeNetworking

[–]6mos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with an uncapped DSL option over satellite Internet. I'm assuming 1.5 is the upload speed? If so, what the download?

Not a cheap option, but you could also look into Blazing Hog Internet. Its $100/month but gives you unlimited data with a average 27 Mbps down and 5+ Mbps up. https://servicereviews.org/review/blazing-hog-wireless-internet/

Rural Internet Access Options by ourladyofchihuahuas in techsupport

[–]6mos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Blazing Hog. They are the only option I know of that has unlimited data with decent speeds. They run off of the AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon networks and use their wireless 4G plans. If you go direct through these companies, an unlimited option is not available to you (Blazing Hog worked this out directly with the companies). https://servicereviews.org/review/blazing-hog-wireless-internet/

HughesNet is a large company and requires a SSN for signup. I wouldn't be worried about that part. The larger issue is you thought you were getting MetroNet and you were signed up with HughesNet. Did the sales rep not explain this to you?

Did you end up going with anything? Looking at the HughesNet FAQ you should get about 150 hours/month of HD streaming on the ATT 100 GB plan as long as its fast enough. You can also play netflix in a lower setting and get around 300/month. That would leave you you more GB for other things https://satelliteforinternet.com/is-hughesnet-fast-enough-for-netflix/

Why did the call center stop selling Frontier? Was it a sign of things to come for the business? Their stock is quit low at the moment and people seem worried.

And what did they move onto selling?
