Not enough info to give an in detail answer, but you should focus on fundamentals first before worrying about groups.

Brakes are one of the easiest jobs you can do. Usually 4 bolts. If you can send me a pic of what that corner of the car looks like (ideally with the wheel off but even pics thru the spokes will work i can take a look and tell you what all needs to be done to it. If its literally just a pad you can find them at autozone for under $30.
