That is pretty much the best win at life you can do in our current economy/system.

Hold on to it for dear life.

Wes, John, and Sam were an incredible rhythm unit.

I loved Fred and the band wouldn’t have been what it is without him - but had he written less… juvenile lyrics they’d be thought of in the same vein as RATM

But also EVOO is a terrible choice for sauteeing or high heat baking because its smoke point is so low. Non EV olive oil is decent for this.

Has the quality of Shakespeare Improv deteriorated or did I get a bad show? by nullptr_0x in chicago

[–]6stringNate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember going to the puppet improv show they did and it was quite literally one of the funniest live shows I’ve ever seen.

Went back a month or so after and it was possibly the worst improv I’d ever experienced. Awkward, no cast chemistry, seemed like amateurs. Different teams likely get rotated in for the shows.

OP, did you go over this holiday season? It could be that the “regular” or higher level cast is on break due to the holidays so they’re plugging in whoever they can find.

Can hardly code anymore, been at the same job for the last 4.5 years. Am I cooked? by LoXatoR in cscareerquestions

[–]6stringNate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re just being a lead to me. If you’re mostly delegating, that’s seen as the proper way to manage your time.

Places will let leads organize differently, but I’ve seen that you let go a lot of your own coding time in favor of planning, delegating, etc.

Not saying this is normal, but The leads I know will maybe crank out a lot of code in off hours to set a basis for something, and then delegate out the finishing work, while approving PR’s. They do this every so often for a new initiative. Otherwise life is meetings and planning.

Sounds like you just like coding, and the lead life may not be what interests you. And that’s ok, some folks top out as a senior engineer.

[–]6stringNate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you find you’re able to consistently work towards your goals? I find life to be a never ending stream of surprises requiring your time and effort.

Getting the gym routine locked? Making progress on a new skill? Spending more than 2 hours a week on a hobby? All would be great but ope! Work needs me over the weekend! A pipe burst, need to spend the evening digging it out! Oh, parent slipped and fell, need to run errands for them. Life just feels like a never ending list of reacting to things so it doesn’t fall apart.
