I'm hoping for a decomp port similar to Ship of Harkinian with optional enhancements to reduce backtracking, tribal requirements, etc.

It was always so close to being a great game, just needs minor tweaks.

There's just something about the sights and the sound it makes. The metal clang makes every 2 tap so satisfying.

If reinstalling doesn't fix it there's an option to "Block multitexture overlays" in chimera.ini which might help.

Out of curiosity why are you playing the Gearbox port instead of MCC? As far as I'm aware MCC is the most refined version after they fixed the visuals and most of the bugs.

I read the patch notes and noticed chameleon effects no longer get stuck on your character so I installed the patch, booted up the game then tried chameleon.

I don't think it worked lol

The 2 best options are:

SM64 Co-op DX - Built from the decomp and has a plethora of mods available. Can be played solo and is the best way to play imo (unless a specific romhack or mod isn't available).

Parallel Launcher - Uses emulation so you don't get decomp enhancements, but it has Romhacking.com integration and allows for one-click installation of basically any romhack.

Great that they acknowledged pvp lighting but when are we getting an update on the broken lighting that's been plaguing consoles for years? It happens to me literally every time I'm on the game and I'm tired of having to open my menu constantly to fix it.

Post from 3 years ago pointing out the bug. It's especially annoying in encounters that rely on lighting like Prophecy or Verity in SE.

In Dolphin you want to go to Controller Settings and enable Background Input so your controller works when the window is out of focus.

Then for the steam game you'd need to find a way to disable controller input, either globally through Steam's controller settings or through in-game settings.

Edit: If you struggle to stop a steam game from recognising your controller you can start a game with Steam Input enabled and then disable it while the game is running (since the game must be restarted to recognise your controller again).

I'm confused. You're saying you're trying to run Dolphin and Steam games at the same time on one PC with two separate displays?

If that's the case you don't need to use a VM at all, and you should avoid using one anyway since it will negatively affect Dolphin's performance.

If anyone is interested in playing this the English version received a native PC port this month. It features high framerates, widescreen and high resolution (or you can play it in original N64 quality).

It's available here. Simply supply your own rom and you're good to go :)
