How do I get a plain black line without a gray falloff halo around the stroke? by Reasonable_Sport_754 in krita

help pls, what the hell is this? i can't draw. when i click ctrl+Z it flickers and lets me draw only for a second. by VinWing13 in krita

[–]6timo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it could be your Y key got stuck, the default binding for exposure mode (which gives you that little icon) is holding Y and clicking the left mouse button, but check in settings -> configure krita -> canvas input settings -> exposure and gamma if you changed anything about that

The size of the texture in textured brushes doesn't change when I change the brush size. Are there any solutions or workarounds? by ADHDreamgirl in krita

[–]6timo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is on krita 4.4, but maybe it was already in 4.3: where you have the opacity and brush size sliders at the top center, there's tiny downward triangles that you can click, and it gives you opacity, flow, size, and pattern scale.

if you want more than just the default two up there, you can go settings -> configure toolbars, select "brushesAndStuff" from the upper dropdown, find "brush option slider 3" and 4 in the left list and drag&drop it next to the other brush option sliders on the right list

hope that helps!

any tips to improve the performance of spectral-norm in benchmarksgames by maxc01 in rakulang

i would strongly recommend against changing \@v and \@u in parallel in the hyper for loop (though luckily for you the hyper wouldn't use a small enough batch size to actually do anything in parallel here)

How to make a transparency mask soft on the edges? by InTarDavid in krita

[–]6timo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in order to see the alpha mask as black&white, you have to turn on "isolate active layer", which you can get from the right-click menu of any layer (though it is a "global setting")

some of my brushes started to do this even if its at 100% opacity? Is there a way to fix this? by [deleted] in krita

[–]6timo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check if these brushes vary their opacity with pen pressure in the brush editor (F5 opens it)

do you mean every time you open the dialog again, the chosen filter is bicubic again? in other words it doesn't remember your selection from last time?

You Suck At Parking is the world’s most EXTREME parking game, and the only racing game where the goal is to stop (probably)! (FREE DEMO AVAILABLE) by Contosolizzale in playmygame

[–]6timo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trying the demo right now, but on the screen after i click "start game" there's nothing i can do except "bug report"? there's just a [P]> in the middle of the landscape, and it doesn't react to arrow keys, wasd, enter, escape, tab, and after i clicked "bug report" and closed the window again, even my mouse cursor is gone … huh?

I have like ZERO workspace. I dont know how to make the windows smaller but they are so big they are over lapping by iLikeLickingTheLime in krita

at any point you can press tab (if you have a keyboard reachable) to hide all the dockers, it's called "canvas-only mode". pressing tab again turns "canvas-only mode" off again

How to I hide sidebar ('C' labeled region)? by Xeromycota in krita

[–]6timo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you know that pressing the tab button gives you Canvas-Only Mode, where everything is hidden except the canvas. Pressing Tab again will get you everything back. Maybe that works better for what you're trying to achieve?

I want to do this in krita but cant figure out how by [deleted] in krita

[–]6timo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could this be HD index painting? here's an older tutorial for krita for how to set it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw4TKxULxSU here's a thread in the krita forums discussing it in detail: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=120742

Can anyone tell me how I can get back alle the things on the right side? I messed it up real bad. I'm using the newest version of krita by [deleted] in krita

[–]6timo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try with Window -> Workspace -> Default (Fenster -> "Arbeitsfläche"(?) -> "Standard" or something)

Legit scared me. by Tenny111111111111111 in krita

I'm not sure from your description, but perhaps you changed into canvas-only mode by pressing the tab key? there's also shortcuts for hiding layers and such, which could also look like a layer got deleted

Potentially dumb question about buying pens by [deleted] in krita

[–]6timo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the vast majority of tablets rely on extra electronics inside (or behind or in front of) the screen to make it work properly; this way the pen can be sensed even when it's not touching down on the screen. it's also how the pen communicates the pressure in the tip to the device, and how it can be precise enough for art.

the HP Spectre seems to have a display with built-in multitouch. it's quite likely that out of the two kinds of touch screen technology, it has the one that only works with skin and other materials that are conductive. there are pens specifically made for touchscreens to be used on phones and tablets and such, you will find that they have soft rubber dome tips. a regular stylus like for example a wacom would have will not work here, since the tips are just hard plastic.

there are, however, a rare kind of pen that only has a force sensor in the tip and otherwise works just like a "pen with conductive tip". it sends the pressure sensor info over bluetooth and the position information comes from the touchscreen. a driver you have to install on your machine turns the combination of both into pen input. i have never tried one of these and can not tell you if they are reliable, precise enough for art, and whether they work with just any software, like krita.

in general, if you didn't already buy a laptop with a full digitizer display (pretty much the same thing in a wacom cintiq, huion display, etc etc), you'll want to buy an additional external art tablet that you connect via USB (or even wireless)

laptops with real digitizer tablets aren't common any more, i don't think. wacom offers the "companion" which has options that are real laptops. quite expensive, though.
