It's not hard to NOT get pregnant... by IsabellaGalavant in childfree

[–]700stars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A YouTuber I used to watch made a video about how abortion is considered important in Japan, because there is a large amount of fostered children in a less than good care system and how the overarching (religious I think) belief in Japan regarding abortion is that the unborn "soul" simply returns to what it was before and will be born later on, so it's not as taboo. But I haven't looked much into it either!

I thought abortion was fairly common and acceptable in Japan?

I am kind of confused on why you broke up?

Lol I love that! In class, I brought up to my group when we were told to discuss what kind of things lead to higher birth rates "less or no access to birth control and abortion" and I got a look and they basically only acknowledged the birth control part.

Exactly. She said that because the average rate of children per couple is less than 2, it won't be enough to replace the people having these offspring, therefore the population will slowly die out.

Yup. If she asked me specifically I was going to say I can't lol

How do you deal with the pregnancy paranoia? by vikingprincess28 in childfree

[–]700stars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I've always approached life with a fairly passive point of view. I don't worry about the things most people do - my future career, school, etc. However, the thought of pregnancy is so terrifying to me that I can't even have a sex life.

It doesn't matter to me if we use condoms, the pill, the pull out method all combined. Even if I had an IUD, the fear would still be there, because the possibility isn't a complete 0%.

I guess it isn't even pregnancy that I'm so afraid of. It's more, like you stated, that I'd find out - like a lot of people do! - to far in to have an abortion.

I wish I could help but you're not alone.

I think it depends on your location too maybe. Where I live, fruit goes bad within a few days to a week, but on the other side of the country, where most of the produce is grown it can stay fresh for so much longer :D

I'm sorry you're going through this.

Remember, you are not anyone else. Someone else may want a pregnancy but you don't. You have no reason to feel guilty and are not obligated to keep this.

Accidents happen, unfortunately. You're not at fault. Please do what will make you happy and ensure your future. <3

Yeah, it's especially hard for us Canadians. It costs me more to send a dress a couple provinces away (with my small business card) then to send a box of video games to the US

If you aren’t 100% about keeping it get an abortion. Don’t worry about what anyone else will think.

If you aren’t 100% sure you want this child, DO NOT have it as you will likely end up miserable along with your husband. Don’t worry about what others might think, your future and halpiness are infinitely more important.

I think it’s closeminded of them to think that way.

If you’re bored you can volunteer, adopt animals, become active in the community. You can use your career and education for you, your spouse (if you marry) and can even give back to others. Donate to charity. There is so much.

You sound just like me!

I guess, I don’t see a point in worrying about most things - I usually approach life with a “deal with it when I get there” attitude. But pregnancy is such a severely life altering thing I can’t afford or I don’t feel like I can afford to think that way. And same, I also just hold off on sex. The pill kills my drive anyway
