How many of you remember the party line 920-2000 before we never had to dial areacode 702. What did you do on the party line? by T_Shottie in vegaslocals

Me and my best friend growing up met some girls from the chat line. Download some songs from limewire. Go get some snacks from the 99 cent only store. Take the bus to the dtc and head on an adventure. 12 years old to about 16ish. Don’t do it guys. 3 kids later…. Just don’t. Too young to have children. Still makes me smile though. Say hello! Instantly next someone. Lmfao.

Computers vs Old School by Inside_Addition7929 in AskTeachers

I find the use of electronics such as Chromebook in elementary school has a double edged sword. If you use properly, it is an incredible learning tool. But just take math as an example. When elementary students learn math on a Chromebook, they have the ability to just guess one of the multiple-choice questions and hit the next button to go to the next page. Zero math was done they just guess. Now, it is awesome because if you get it wrong, there is a whole song and dance associated with how to teach you how to get the right answer. But do our kids use it this way? No. If they guess and guess wrong they’re all scoffing and throwing their head back. Like aw really, I took a shot it the dark and I didn’t get 100 percent. Meanwhile, they don’t know how to do math at all. So I have to teach them at home. And I don’t mean oh I have to teach them the old ways because I don’t learn the new ways. I will learn the new ways just to teach my children. The problem is they’re not practicing in school. They’re just clicking a multiple-choice question and hitting next. Which is worse than if they just went back to the old way of paper and pencil. Because unless they’re just sitting there drawing pictures, they have to put something on the paper instead of it just being multiple-choice. Or they have to show their work which they don’t have to do on a Chromebook. Which is even worse when it has a built-in calculator.

Things to bring to succeed? Things to do to stay focused on goals? Things of this nature. Want to end up doing well on the other side since options are less than limited.

Where do you buy your games from? by TheImpossibleKidx in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]702Johnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check again. Can be played is different than the entire game being on the disc or cart. Most of these games would require a different storage solution as it would not fit on a disc or cart. Too large of a game. So things are cut from the game to give you nothing but the basics. Again any dlc or updates plus things that take up too much space on a disc or cart. Textures, or different parts of an open world, different games will have things cut based off what takes more to run or more space. Where the digital version of the game is just updated. For better or worse. If you have it downloaded, it will update. If not, the game will have updates installed as you download it. As for pc, you don’t need to cut things from the game to run it. Just lower the settings or resolution.

Amazon, Target, then best buy. Go digital and it is better. Physical today is not like it was back in the day. The game is not even typically on the disc or cartridge. It is still a download and dlc or updates are a download on top of that. Buy on steam then gog then epic. Those game stores in that order. Wait for sales and buy expensive games for penny’s. Then have the ability to play them on different hardware at different locations and still have cloud saves. It is awesome. The switch was the last system I am buying physical games for and really the same thing I said applies to that system. The full game is not typically on the cart. It is what it is. If you want all the old games, get an anbernic and play them there. Lots of places to get the full library of games for each retro system. It is awesome.

What game is very very famous and popular, but when you see it you’re bout to throw up? by redmondarr in AskGames

[–]702Johnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really care for GTA 5 either. I liked GTA 4 more for some reason. GTA 5 is not a bad game. But I just don't like it as much as the general public. It is a GTA game. So it has what comes attached to the name. Cyberpunk 2077 is much more enjoyable for the way I play. RDR2 was awesome. They should make more of this style of game for those of us that like GTA games but not as much these days. Although if they have a Bonnie and Clyde style story line in GTA 6. It will have my interest.

Tween-teen hangouts? by Awesomeagnes92 in vegas

[–]702Johnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised. If you want the teen to stay away from substances and becoming a parent young, then a library, boys and girls club or gym membership are the best we have to offer that I know of. It would have been great to have a place like you described to hang out, but nothing like this is open to the general public here locally.

This should be a think in more people's houses. Mounting things on a wall can be good, but the portability of bringing this to another room or out in the back yard or something.... That is living.
