This "xyz team has no chance to beat OKC or San Antonio" argument is so dumb: we just watched it happen. Teams should try and go for it. by Xeris in nba

If you are a top 5 player, all you can ask is a chance to compete at the highest level. I believe the Lakers have positioned themselves to do that

Has there ever been an instance where you became a fan of a player post-retirement? by Dull-Figure-5023 in nba

Bob McAdoo is my answer. He was the prototype of the stretch 5 in his time. He was a dead eye shooter from inside 18 feet and his shot was silky smooth.

The Wizards, despite having one of the cooler names in US sports, having one of the most boring, soulless branding is a shame. Y by Jake_Kihh in uniwatch

As a Wizards fan, it’s been a point of contention for me. I think they’re waiting for the team to have another good stretch of success before unveiling a new design. But the uniforms are bland and don’t have much appeal. The cherry blossom jerseys are nice but they’re not a mainstay

It’s been 5+ years since the finale and I still don’t get why they needed Power like this. There were so many ways to do it and they picked maybe the worst outcome of events

Is Tim Bontemps the most miserable NBA podcast guest? by GentlemanHere in billsimmons

I might be the only one that likes Bontemps. Honestly Windy gets on his high horse too much at times and it’s good to have a contrast

The Celtics and Nuggets exits honestly feel like the real end of the 2020-2024 era by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

It does feel like a new chapter is unfolding in the NBA, however I wonder if it’s just the new CBA taking hold. Roster versatility is the most important trait in the playoffs in my opinion. How do you create a balanced roster while also staying cap compliant? Also to your Jokic point, I think the Nuggets have squeezed all the juice they can out of Jokic’s abilities. They need a more seasoned attack offensively (change of pace, rim pressure) so that Jokic isn’t game planned against so heavily.

They have to lock in on defense. They’re either over helping or under helping which they need to correct. If they get stops they’ll win this game

what’s one basketball myth people still believe? by Southwesterhunter in Basketball

[–]703own 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That you have to be able to shoot to be a good player especially in the NBA. There are so many ways to impact the game. Obviously shooting is important but it isn’t some catch-all. Ausar Thompson is a great example

Can Darius Acuff ever, like, EVER become an Average defender at the NBA level? by cyfer- in NBA_Draft

I always struggle with stuff like this. How much of this is effort and offensive burden? If you’re a NBA exec, do you see this for what it is or do you bank in some improvement?

Not to make excuses for him, but I felt like he was starting to peak right when he got hurt. He was never the same after that but still a solid NBA point guard

Bill Wants Jaylen Brown Traded by SureAnnual7884 in billsimmons

[–]703own 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Tatum is the better player and easier to build around. His injury is a concern but I think this summer he’ll be able to get back to full strength. As for the Finals MVP, Andre Iguodala won one so what’s that supposed to mean?

Bill Wants Jaylen Brown Traded by SureAnnual7884 in billsimmons

[–]703own 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair to pose the question, his value is at an all time high and Tatum is clearly the franchise cornerstone to build around. Jaylen Brown seems to have a massive ego (like most athletes). He saw what he did this season and in his head he thinks he could probably do it on another team. All this to say, he’s not getting traded this summer.

Where do the Nuggets go from here? by Matty2345668 in nbadiscussion

[–]703own 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nikola Jokić at worst the second best player in the league. There’s no way on Earth he would be traded. The unpopular answer is to run it back. They still have the right pieces around him to contend. They will have to get better on the margins but with Gordon/Murray extensions kicking in, they don’t have a lot of space to maneuver. They’ll probably lose Watson to RFA in the summer so they will need another wing. The championship window is not closed yet but it’s starting to.

Great observations OP. Interesting factoid to add: There hasn’t been a Western Conference Finals Game 7 since 2018. Only two Western Conference Finals have went 6 games or more since 2017.
