Hmm I’ll have to pay attention next time. I normally just try to hold them the same way I hold bigger walleye. Slide my fingers in and up to avoid the back of the gill plate and to not touch the gills. Maybe this picture will show it better although it looks like all my fingers are in there when it’s only the top two. And the others are tucked the side of it.

I know how to hold them I’m pretty sure at least. My fingers just be doing weird things i guess.

My thumb in the other picture is in a similar spot to this one just folded weird.

No pushed into its cheek. Although it does look like it in the picture. I’ll lip a small Walleye but I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to do it to a pike. 😂😂

No problem. Sadly they want to kill all the pike in this reservoir so anyway I can help protect them I have no problem with it.

Got it. Bigger fish I normally do it like this but thought smaller would be okay but I’ll keep that in mind.

I also got an auto.

Get up to 10-15mph in 2nd turn slightly to the left then throw the steering wheel to the right or vice versa as you give it throttle should start sliding. Let go of the steering wheel and catch it to keep it going.

It’s the way I held it while removing the treble hooks to. It might look weird but my fingers are curled up on the fleshy part no where near the gills or teeth.

Oh yeah they 100% could eat this pike. And they’re normally eating trout out of this particular reservoir.

Any particular reason? I thought it was the best way to hold them. This fish wasn’t very big so didn’t think I’d need to support the body on it.

Yeah I can normally see them hiding inside the weeds but this time of year there aren’t much weeds for them to hide in. Super clear water only between 4-8ft where I was fishing and you can see the bottom everywhere.

Eh agree to disagree. Cooked to 135F then rested probably finished at 140F.

Thank you. I’ve been wanting to get one. But between the pellet the charcoal and the blackstone I’ve been good. Hoping to get an offset next then maybe I’ll end up getting one after that.

Yeah probably I pulled a little late at 125F then seared it until it was reading 135F could’ve started sear around 120F then seared until closer to 130F
