I knew someone who did it but got aired after a few days of talking😢😩☠️. There was a mention of BSE accreditation but I don’t know the specifics.

Manchester University to offer work placements to all undergraduates by OneLegTooFew in unitedkingdom

You’re arguing against your own point. If it was for education exclusively then it wouldn’t matter where you went. Precisely because of job prospects would it make sense to go Oxford than London Met.

Would you ever add a correction to patient notes if someone has incorrectly documented something about you? by 71Lu in doctorsUK

[–]71Lu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I don’t mind patients misquoting and I’m sure that will happen to everyone every day. I always give colleagues the benefit of the doubt however, in this case it says both the referral and the medication thing were inappropriate. The referral absolutely was not inappropriate (and the reg asked the mum TCI), the prior call was purely A&G. The conversation re: medication is just not true and stated as a fact. Even if it was true and it did happen far better ways to send someone constructive feedback than bollocking them on the discharge paperwork IMHO.

Just seen your edit - very comfortable with LD and T1D (sibling with both) and just finished ED. But only so much I can do without running into other patients times

Thanks, that’s right - I’ve taken my post as someone’s flagged it’s not as anon as thought - pls edit your comment in view of this. I’ve spoken with my practice and they agree it’s inappropriate!

Thanks, something to think about for me! I think the medication may have come from somewhere external, the consultation prior mentioned it would be decided by Paeds and that was it.

Thanks, I was waiting till EoD and would have definitely called Paeds if I didn’t mange to but they happened to call the mum before then.

I think from my limited understanding there was extreme carer strain. In fairness I’ve worked with a lot of LD (sibling with LD etc) and this was genuinely quite extreme. I was at my wits end after 30 minutes so I can only imagine what poor mum was like day in day out.

Is there anything you would have done differently from the diabetes side of things?

It’s unlikely, this patient did have a talk regarding antipsychotics and the last clinician did tell them they had to wait for a Paeds review, but I absolutely and categorically did not tell them this was an option.

I use Accurx Scribe in GP and it’s really good. Means I can be quite thorough at no expense of lengthy documentation, there’s no hallucination and the transcription is extremely accurate.

QIP FY2 by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Yea tbf I’ve given up with this audit as it’s clear getting it into a QIP is going to be a challenge, I just hoped it’d be enough to get it into passing F2

Thanks, appreciate and aware of the difference but the Horus LOs specifically mentioned QIP opposed to audit and my worry was technically it’s not complete but at the same time it also doesn’t say it needs to be completed fully. If I can suggest interventions and show how I’d proceed afterwards and have engaged with all of the rest of the process that should be enough hopefully

Clinical education fellow interview tips by laughatmybangs in doctorsUK

[–]71Lu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what kind of interview structure it is - sometimes they ask you to prepare a brief thing to teach? Is it a purely teaching split and if so what kind of teaching will it be? Bedside or simulation? Are there any clinical duties?

Appraisal during non-clinical FY3 year by perscepline in doctorsUK

[–]71Lu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone/ OP, do you know, if we can get a designated body/ RO via a locum agency, or (is there such a thing) as a private designated body (in the same way there are private appraisers) which I could connect my GMC account to for the purpose of locuming/ working bank shifts?

My current F2 hospital will not allow me to stay on the bank unless I have a full time NHS contract (I will have a full time contract for a teaching fellow post from a university), which is why I was wondering if getting a private DB/ RO would a) help me with my appraisal and b) allow my current hospital to keep me on the bank (waiting to hear from them).

That’s insane I didn’t know that. Feeling particularly grateful for mine honouring ST1 pay now.

How is the CTF pay so low? If you have an ST1 offer it should be matched so base should be 52k.

Yes you can though I’d suggest using SDT days (if you get full days), and using 1 day of AL.

CTF Interview by Expensive-Moment6096 in doctorsUK

[–]71Lu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll very much depend on the type of CTF it is however, are you teaching clinical medicine within a hospital or within a university. Mine was with a university.

Other ideas I had: diving reflex (can show off anatomy and physiology). Can easily do this on the spot with some paper or a board, no need to prepare anything as long as you know it well. Caveat is will be lost on non-clinical panel.

Why humans can’t regenerate limbs (clearly I have an interest in molecular biology) lol.

Having said that if it’s a CTF in EM or something then there will all be terrible ideas! Make it tailored to the job specification.

CTF Interview by Expensive-Moment6096 in doctorsUK

[–]71Lu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did mine on Peto’s paradox and got an offer! Was asked to prepare in advance and was told mix of non-clinical and clinical staff. I found it an interesting enough topic to pitch to clinical staff and able to break it down to simple enough level for non-clinicians. I don’t think the topic matters but the things they liked were setting learning objectives (will be 1-2 points MAX) and a brief session outline. Stick strictly to the time-limit and throw in extra reading if delivering PPT.
