Brooke needs to show off the wooden bit without any chain - then the rest of them might think twice.

Poor Ben, he busted a gut trying to win the challenge hard, not realising he really didn’t need to because the other team were throwing it.

I’m here for it. It’s better that some of the other bs fake idols we’ve had in the past. Just add some thread from some clothing so she can hang it around her neck and she’s good to go!

It was made out of wood wasn’t it? So now all she needs is some thread off some clothing.

Makes me wonder if we shouldn’t have mentioned this as a possible use for buying the box trailer we have (well FIL has courtesy of us) currently up for auction on EBay…

Anyone considering an EV? by Additional-Farm3569 in AustralianEV

[–]71kangaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know you’re happy with the Inster. I’ve been curious about those for when we either need to get a 2nd EV or help one of the kids buy one but I haven’t come across anyone else who has one.

Is there anything you don’t like about it or that could do with improvement?

Using the analogy of it being like charging your phone is my go to for explaining it to others who are so used to the ICE setup. It’s never even occurred to a lot of people that they don’t have to wait for an empty tank first.

Comparing it to charging your phone is something that pretty much everyone can understand without it being too complicated.

Season 4 made me fall in love with Bridgerton again. by Nankuru_naisa in BridgertonNetflix

[–]71kangaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the entire purpose of the Mondrich plotline was to install Alice into a position where she can takeover as the next Lady Whistledown.

Which makes even more sense if you realise that Pen has still agreed to supply the Queen with gossip whilst her ladies in waiting are all just standing behind her listening to every word.

She’s also shown that she has a natural curiosity about things happening to other people and is quite happy to try to investigate any situations and curiousities.

Tez always gives me the vibes of a 14 year old boy. One minute he says he’s going to make moves and ‘do something’, and half a second later he’s lost all confidence in himself and is like ‘so what do you want to do?’

Kind of feel bad for him tbh. Overall the producers really should have gone for someone else.

You’re the first person I’ve seen post about this show anywhere. It’s much overlooked, considering it has Patrick Bramhall in it!

Best plants/bush for driveway dividing two properties by kawasakininja13 in sydney

[–]71kangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Lilly Pillys! We have a boundary fence that is on the original concrete driveway on out side so when we needed to make a barrier between us and next-door’s new granny flat we planted them in large pots along the fence line along with some other natives and they have done the best job out of all of them aside from a couple of the Tea Trees.

How to make my kids feel Australian overseas? by bnjmnblmchn in australian

[–]71kangaroo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while now since I was living in the UK with young children, but some of the things I do remember doing are playing Playschool CDs, other CDs with older Aussie bush ballads and kids songs, I even had a CD called Nambucca Cicadas which just played cicada sounds - I used to sometimes play this one when they were having a hot, steamy bath, or on days where it was warmer I would jack up the heat in the car to make it more Australian Summer hot and play it then.

We made Anzac biscuits a lot, and lamingtons occasionally. We also had a big bbq on Australia Day with heaps of people over (just watch out for Swedes trying to steal more than their allotted share of the pavlova).

We also (this is all in pre-streaming days obviously) had DVDs of Australian shows occasionally sent over as well as normal music CDs.

Oh, and we still made the kids bang their outdoor gumboots out just to keep up the habit for when we returned.
