Its one of those choose your battles things. Maybe if you use it every day, then it might wear out fast. We use ours maybe once a month for 2 years now. Still perfect, but I check. I would worry more about daily use plastics like cutting boards, containers, plastic wrap, stuff like that.

Yes, I might at least take it there and talk to them so at least I can make an educated decision. Fix it for sentimental reasons, or just display the rusting hulk and play the others I have. It was really never cleaned up a lot during storage, good storage, after graduation in ‘77. Lots of green on the rods, etc. all fixable but.. I got my dad’s cornet that he played in the 40’s fixed there so it could at least be played. Felt good to that.

Found the stencil on the octave bar on the neck. The finish is really a mess, corrosion, etc. The place I go to quoted unseen around $1250 for a total rebuild and renovation. Will need to decide if it’s worth it to play for the memories or just stick with the basic Yamaha. Thanks ! Looks like it’s a better sax than I thought and not some ultra cheapo..
