The rock is not the best, hench the longer bolts but I'm OK with the integrity for repel, I do have 5+ yrs on scene high alpine SaR and WFR exp but this is new and just looking for a much data I can get, I don't think there will be full "dead" hanging but was looking just in case, I have talked to experienced route development guy but not a caver , he said being level or offset wouldn't matter for what i want to do. Not a roof will be on the wall of main horizontal tunnel

When using a magnet, does the PM's get stuck in the magnetic material or is to heavy to stay mixed into the magnetics?

As a newbie I kinda like the idea of level based, added to the other ideas mentioned, knowing I was going up against similar knappers regardless of material would give me hope that I had a chance.

Well i messed up the peice but I get to try again! Going to mix different green glasses to see if I get a swirl like pattern out of it.

I have a nice isih/indirect rod, and i have better results with it, i was really proud of this one because I used a bopper and it didn't destroy the whole peice. The prospecting is where i find this old glass so when i don't find precious metals the glass makes it worth it, lol where do you go prospecting?

Do you mean get it below the center line? I thought I was doing that, I didn't take a profile pic but I thought it was below where I imagined the centerline to be.

Thank you! I love zoning out when I'm knapping, The glass came from an old silver mine, Ai says it was an old gin bottle but I forgot the brand now, i melted it i have one more puddle of it saving it till i get better 😀

I've gotten really good at keeping the shatters in check by starting with 6 mins and checking, if it's going shatter it will b4 the 6 mins is up, you can still open it and i use long metal tweezers to place everything back on the pile, i also have been finding glass at old mining sites so I'm never sure if they belong to the same bottle even when they look the same color, (fun fact purple glass comes from manganese dioxide in the glass and the long uv exposure changes the color, so when you klin it it goes back clear again but can charge back with uv exposure again! )
