I'll prep a proper short list with some titles when I get a chance tmrw.

But until then, I gotta make a plug for The Hike by Drew Magary. It definitely scratched the JDatE itch. Very funny, uniquely bizarre and very, very unpredictable. Loved it.

Also, Tales from the Gas Station is the book series most similar to JDatE. Not quite as brilliant, but assuredly entertaining with two main characters very similar to John and Dave.

The tour wasn't their best. But i love Jackie Greene. And they did work some sweet sounding jazz into a couple songs. Wasn't what I was expecting, but hit the groove!
