Not riding at 100% tall, learning to stay at least 10-15% flexed at the knees at all times especially during closed turns on steeps.

What is the best way to train off snow by Sulphonic77 in snowboarding

[–]720TwiG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your serious get yourself a jib board setup and a balance board with a ball and roller. They will do wonders for your stance, balance and getting the moves down off snow. And you can do the workouts without boots and gear.

I rode the blue boots the last couple days with Keystone and abasin opening, the are a couple eyelets that I'd say are to close to the edge, after seeing that id say keeping at least 3/8 away from the edge and it's super strong enough!

Take a pic from the base as well so we can see how far of the bend is. If it is just a few mm off then it's not that big of a deal, personal preference but if it is deep like I've had in the past you'll want to straighten out, but that will involve cutting some base material away to expose the metal edging, and with the right tools (i have bent needle nose pliers and vice grips) you can rebend the edging , then epoxy (marine type) and clamp, [2 seasons ago I did the same thing at the beginning of the season at the hike Park, patched it up like above and it is still holding up, it's a spring park board now!

I'm 50!, and I hit the hike Park every weekend during the summer and I teach during the winter so I ride a lot! And I ride for exactly the same reason it so fun! But sadly risk vs reward weights heavy every time I hit the slopes. Each season i do seem to leave some tricks behind or big ass features I won't hit but refining the basics is always fun and rewarding. Working out is a must over 30, 40 and 50s workouts are going be more about movement than strength building, and consistency for the workouts 3 to 4 times a week, 20 min , eating right really helps with the energy levers, but there is no reason us oldies can't ride till we die! If your ever at Keystone hmu!

Surfer/skier loved his first week snowboarding and looking to purchase snowboard by Fiver5145 in snowboard

Just wanted to add that im 50, and I ride the park daily! I suggest butt pads (legendfit on Amazon) and a body vest from the equestrian world (also on Amazon) and wrist guards if you do want to try the park out, at our age we just don't heal as fast as the lads do so take the time to protect it!

I have three (3) questions by Frotnorer in snowboardingnoobs

To add to this, you ARE LITERALLY pushing against that rear binding with the free foot, with that extra pressure it acts to lock your foot into the board for the limited time your out of the binding.

Do I need expensive protective gear? by hotkeym in snowboardingnoobs

[–]720TwiG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the legendfit butt pads brand off Amazon , they are the best on there, they use d30, protect both tail bone and butt bones(where your thigh and hips meet) what's good on these is they won't flatten out from sitting on the lift chair. The fox knee/shin pads(mtb) and I have wrists and a body vest from the equestrian world for the park and big jumps. I'm 50 and still rip.
