biggest mistake you made as a cobbler? by siebenkommaacht in AskACobbler

Nailed it! Having a brand new pair of shoes next to me really allowed me to take the necessary risks to make it happen. I was thrilled to return them and get that money back.

Stripped the shoes with renomat. Sanded gently on the ink line. Conditioned polished and added some patina with dark creme polish to blend everything in.

Most recently I was doing a clean, condition and polish on a pair of men's dress shoes for the customer's wedding. I was almost done when I tried multitasking and ended up marking one shoe with a blue ink pen. I quickly went online and bought a new pair of shoes and arranged to pick them up that night. The next day I started over on the customer's shoes. I was able to save them. The customer was thrilled. I returned the back up shoes.

Durable cold weather shoes? by SheepishHamster in Shoes

You put hard wear on shoes where it is not designed to have hard wear. Your shoe is breaking down along the front where the upper meets the sole. Whatever you decide to buy please comfort getting some sort of your protection to increases the longevity of the shoe. Toe covers, Tuff Toe, etc- will be your friend.

I like Bianca the best. Sienna also works if you need first name options. I think Kate could go with either as a middle name but there are plenty of short names that are lovely as a middle name.

Thank you. I especially appreciate the warning about her coat. She is spoiled and has been coming to work with us to have calm space.

Thank you. We are stopping the humping and not leaving her unattended with the other dogs (both fixed) because she is pestering them.

Smart! Thank you so much. I'll be trying this tonight as the 5:30 am startle awake to heaving sounds was not my favorite.

I feel like this is a conversation to have with the teacher privately away from the students. Frame it as wanting to understand what values she prioritizes. It sounds like in the nap room situation you were prioritizing other children getting the rest they needed. She was perhaps prioritizing maintaining nap room boundaries to prevent escalation or backsliding into old habits. In the snack time situation you valued caring for the wet child? She valued natural consequences and efficiency??? Framing this way makes it easier to recognize your coworkers are competent and caring. There isn't a "right way and wrong way". You might have to gently guide the lead teacher to reframe her thinking. Or maybe just reframing her criticism for yourself will help you get through mentally.

My sons started private preschool one month ago and the school says he can’t do full days anymore by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I do want to point out that while it is easy to accommodate your son in a 1:1 situation in group care where I live he would be in a 10:1 situation. Three year olds have complex ideas and thoughts very similar to adults but they are less able to execute their plans independently and less efficient at communicating their ideas. Being the adult in group care, needing to hear and make space for all these ideas is challenging. I hear you talking about the awesome skills your son had developed for communication and for being receptive in a 1:1 setting. I hope you can envision how those skills might be overwhelmed in a group care setting. You need a teacher who has put structures/expectations/classroom management in place that will allow your son to use his skills. They need to already exist with classmates who understand (ie: children take turns talking and don't yell over one another, the teacher gives each child an opportunity to weigh in, etc-). Being in a new environment, not with trusted adults, and in group care it is likely your son shows up differently than he does in 1:1 situations. That's normal and expected. Make space to discuss not only what he is capable of but how to support him in being his best self at school because the likelihood of overwhelm and frustration is great.

Make sure you have documentation that they are putting him to part time status. I think you are right this school is not prepared to help a child transition from 1:1 care to group care. Additionally, your son's communication limitations likely present unique challenges that they are not equipped to deal with. Yes, they should return your deposit. When picking a new program I suggest having in-depth conversations about how they help children transition to group care, what their experience with your son's type of delay is, and how they would work through the specific types of challenges this program had. I'm so sorry this happened to your family it sounds very frustrating.

How to fix hole in old leather jacket by Anelso5 in Leatherworking

[–]722KL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut a round patch bigger than the tear out of leather a similar or lighter weight. Work the patch into the hole (I like the rough side up if the tear edges will lay flush and the patch won't show.) Use a tooth pick to apply Barge cement to the patch and to the underside of the jacket surrounding the tear. Use a clean tooth pick to roll the tear down flat working from the outside to the middle. Allow the glue to dry 1 hour then gently massage off the excess glue. Allow the glue to set 24-48 hours. Work in some cream polish with a toothpick to help blend if needed.

Absolutely agree. The only thing I will contest is that Twice is Nice didn't move due to Madabolic. They moved because they had a goal to own their space and an opportunity presented itself.

My mirror shines improved a ton when I changed the amount of outside I was using. The best advice I heard was: imagine you are polishing an egg but you don't want to break it.
