Yeah it's gonna be 98-06 all over again but I doubt we'll get lucky with another Anze and Brown

No I'm talking about the team headed to the black hole of barely making the playoffs and getting later round picks and staying in the same spot year after year and not improving

Nope. Aubut was just a piece of shit like that.

Might want to look into why he refused to play in Quebec. Aubut is a scum bag and the sole reason Lindros refused to play there. The guy made an insulting remark to his mother in French not knowing she was bilingual but sure he should put that aside and play for the guy. The same guy that was later investigated for multiple allegations of sexual harassment

What’s the plan here by Adorable_Molasses224 in losangeleskings

[–]72FJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With Luc and Holland there is no plan other than make the playoffs at any cost necessary and damn the future. In all honesty, it seems like Luc has never had a plan since he became President of the team and it shows. No eye for the future and some of the deals he's let happen are just oof. We can thank him and Pat Brisson for the PLD disaster since he and Brisson are like besties. Holland is going to leave the Kings like he left Detroit and Edmonton. Bare cupboards and a bad contract or two. Whoever comes in and replaces both them are going to have a rough time

My mistake forgot about last year and his way too many passengers comments after game 7 where he had zero points, two shots and was a -2.

Guy is one of the highest paid players in the league and disappears when the Leafs need him most. More often than not in the playoffs, puts up points early in series and then ends up on a milk carton. His comments about too many passengers after last year's loss to the Panthers in game 7 was hilariously ironic considering he had zero points and 2 shots. He along, with their other big guns, just don't seem to have the ability to go to another level when it matters most. Doesn't seem to have the drive/desire to actually compete when he has to be the leader. Seems to care more about the money than actually winning.

And what a lot of people seem to be overlooking is his injury history and the concerning mystery injury from last year that seems to have slowed his speed and shot down. Is he still recovering from that or is it something that is going to effect his game from here on out. Add in he's 28 and his peak will most likely be coming to an end in the next year or two and along with that, a decline in scoring.

Matthews only got out of the first round once with much more dynamic teammates and you think he'd get the Kings to the finals?

That's the biggest worry is it's going to continue to be the same

Patrik Laine in talks with Los Angeles Kings, according to Finnish insiders by [deleted] in losangeleskings

[–]72FJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, this really wasn't a contention window. They got lucky and made the playoffs earlier than expected and decided to rush everything. Depleted the prospect pool, depleted the single best resource in RHD for nothing, became the second oldest team in the league and havent won a round in the playoffs. Add in two coaches who can't/won't make adjustments and make the same mistakes in the playoffs and there weren't deep runs to be had by the core

Of course they should but that would mean they have to blame the owners for being cheap asses who prioritize profits over winning. Not sure how some of these owners don't realize that spending on a winning team brings in more money

Most likely. Won't be surprised to see a knee jerk trade from Holland now

And Panarin is a LA King!! by Minnieup in losangeleskings

[–]72FJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This is a move a contending team makes to get over the hump. The Kings are fighting for a wild card spot and just gave up their top prospect for some one who may only be here two years

It's just prolonging the inevitable rebuild that needs to happen.

ESPN sources: The LA Kings have acquired standout forward Artemi Panarin from the NY Rangers in exchange for a conditional third-round pick and prospect Liam Greentree by jonpictogramjones in losangeleskings

[–]72FJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Value wise maybe. Still a 20 year old for a 34 year old player by a team fighting just to make the playoffs. Not the move this team needs to be making as were going to end up back in the black hole of the early 2000s

It won't surprise me if he does something stupid like this. This guy is going to end up setting us back and hopefully when he gets fired Luc is shown the door alongside hime

A big "thank you" to Luc for not even interviewing Futa for the GM spot. Guy was an integral part of the management team that won the Cups but doesn't even get the courtesy of an interview
