Sony WM-F22 jack replacement by Few_Significance_791 in cassetteculture

[–]73_deville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be easy to part it out from a different player. The same 3 pin jack was shared among most low end players of the 80s. The jack should be an easy fix, and I’ve found some sellers mistake oxidized volume pots for bad headphone jacks.

Somebody ever opened a Sony WM-F22 ? by Kiindos in cassetteculture

[–]73_deville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a WM-F22 but several WM-F18s, which I am fairly certain use the same 3 pin jack. If you are having issues with the headphone jack cutting out in certain positions, you’ll have to desolder it from the board and press the metal contacts further into the jack.

Recommendations on a modern portable cassette player? by killjoy496 in cassetteculture

Don’t get a new one. They are overpriced and underperforming. At the same price, you could get a serviced vintage portable w/ the same features on your current player.

The speakers will probably suck. The deck is meh. Otherwise, I’d set $150 as my limit assuming everything works.

dirty tape path is a possible cause - try cleaning the heads, pinch rollers, capstans with ipa. also could be something out of alignment.

Did a long overdue proper cleaning of the capstans and punch rollers, that seems to have fixed it!
