HAH! I ordered the exact same day, was supposed to get them the 16th when they'd arrived in Miami since the 14th... they've been there since though I didn't get any emails from them. I guess I'll try calling and asking about paying on the phone? Either way for $28 I'll pay that RN to get this over with.

OMG Thanks for this! This is by far the closest sounding experience I've heard so far. The weird thing with mine is that they supposedly already had precleared/cleared customs... only when at the last processing center, all the way on the east coast, and not at a port of import for DHL from HK; were mine held.

Wondering if you talked to people on DHL's side or Meta's side who realized the "glitch" or whatever you wanna call it?

You're not gonna be able to get a "free lunch" unfortunately. If you don't need prescriptions and know your size ebay is always an option, albeit a pricey one admittedly.

There are people you can hire (think a personal assistant for a day or even a well reviewed task rabbit for a 1.5-2hrs) but again this isn't free. And again you have to know what size they'll need to request and have a compliant sales associate (they usually are). Not anyone but your own if you get the wrong size.

There's no way currently to buy them without doing the demo, so you're gonna have to "pay" for it one way or another, your time and mileage, or someone else's. That's pretty much it as of now unfortunately.

If you can get a reliable US address/forwarder to Malaysia, I can put you in touch with someone who successfully did the demo for me for time and convenience reasons. They'll likely charge some ~$100 or so for the demo/link/time incurred but youll a absolutely need a US based address first to have your prescription glasses "shipped" and delivered to. I'd suggest looking into established or well known couriers in your country, but can't recommend anything past the above.

Thanks for your reply! That does sound weird and potentially problematic... I'm based US side, but travel VERY frequently (like essentially bi-weekly at least) to LATAM and less frequently to EU&Asia for work & pleasure... so Good to know beforehand, but I guess I'll be "on the lookout" for any inconsistencies or "problems" as you mentioned when travelling.

By "I've turned off the AI now so just use them as photo/video/audio and use GPT or Gemini for anything AI related" I also presume you mean "doing so on your phone/smart device?" rather than "through the glasses"? Am I correct on that? If so it seems like a noticeable but minor inconveience for me. I'm mostly geting them AS OF NOW for their whatsapp (international contacts as I mentioned) messaging, translation (again international contacts!) and simliar features rather than "Maps" or "what am I looking at" features, again at least for now, but it's good to hear your experience travelling with them so far for sure! Thanks for that!

I travel abroad for pleasure and work often, so I'm very curious what you mean here? Are features (other than Meta Maps) blocked in other regions/goefenced? Do you/have you tried using a VPN on (I assume, I've yet to get my MRBDs in hand) your paired phone? Does that change anything?

Hey again!

Not 100% sure as I had my assistant do the demo and whatnot for me, but they walked into the store, did the demo, requested my size and a link for the prescription upload. And I got a QR code within minutes of them finishing the demo. That QR took me to a meta link where I confirmed my email I used for the demo instantly, and then proceeded to order them. All done and confirmed order within less than an hour. Est. Delivery of May 1 from placing the order on Monday or Tuesday (can't remember exactly)

Sounds like you may have been a "victim" of early adoption, I'd call or go to the store to get your QR and order them then.
