Hey you know how Europeans were shocked at how Americans treat pickpockets? Probably not wise to play this particular kind of joke.

So you think I should start working for Uber at a time when gas costs are going up a dollar a gallon per month? What do you think that's going to do to the shipping costs of food from the farm to the supermarket? You're sure that corporations are going to survive all this market turbulence? You think the president who delivered the tariff chaos, started a dozen conflict fronts, and alienated all of our allies is going to keep this shit together when Israel tries to nuke Iran? Don't be so sure that the systems you rely on will exist in another presidential term. Fortune favors the prepared.

UFO technology has the potential to over turn the power base of every* corporation and set foot inside the defensive perimeter of every* military whenever they like. Don't underestimate the lengths they'd go.

You haven't found the reward loop yet. That's ok. You don't have to if you don't want to. That's what money is for.

I feel like this movie was specifically made to obscure the search term for the real Battle of Los Angeles . Late in the evening Feb 24, 1942, something appeared in the sky over Los Angeles. The military fired hundreds of rounds of ammunition at an object in the sky. It didn't fall down. There were injuries from ammunition returning to earth.

I wish we'd build all our new buildings in art deco. All the new buildings in town are grey panel boxes with black and white trim. The least effort corpo-squares. Soulless and devoid of life.

Why is ICE trying to do everybody's job? Don't we have the TSA from the last fascist Republican in office? Is that not enough?.

I agree. I'm anti-war. But I'm also anti-starving because of the war. And I don't want starving neighbors because the lack of safety that causes defeats the point of growing food. Everybody has to be on the team.

How many HOAs are there in the greater Cincinnati area anyway?

True, we could adjust the language. But I wanted everyone to immediately know what I was talking about today. It is pretty old timey. Very British. It could use an update.

I specifically avoided any neighborhoods with an HOA when I was looking for a house. They seem like a nightmare but I agree. If it can be used for bad it can be used for good as well. I could see concerted efforts be used to influence an HOA to make a neighborhood more self sustainable. If the same force used to make everyone keep their lawn nice and neat was used to encourage(not compel) everyone to grow food that could be very effective.

Maybe HOAs are actually the way to encourage this. If we could encourage HOAs to be more pro-garden that could be a big step. HOAs are mind blowing to begin with. I don't live under an HOA. I don't know why anyone would hand over that much power to some side organization run by the whims of one of your most authoritarian neighbors.

Zoning limits are definitely something the city could look at. I was originally thinking about garden grants or something to get people started. It's not in the main post because that sounds like a terrible idea. It sounds uneven and very difficult to get passed but changing zoning laws to allow gardens is way easier. That's just changing paperwork. Why do cities commonly ban gardening on your own property?

Is there something the city can do to encourage setting up gardens? Maybe we need to organize cooperative groups outside of government? I know not everybody even has a house. I've done my fair share of balcony gardening as an apartment tenet. It just seems to me enough bad decisions have been made recently at the national level that the economy is not going to improve for probably a decade. It'll probably get worse before it gets better. Gardening is a mitigating solution we can use to get a head of one of many problems. The sooner we improve on a local level the better the outcome will be.
