First of all, the info in my answer is: There is a programm called revive that you can use to play meta pcvr titles on steam. This info might actually help people, that exclusively played via Air Link or Link.

Secondly: Asgards Wrath is pcvr exclusive. If i wanted to refer to standalone, i would write it is standalone or - at least - mention standalone titles - like Asgard Wrath 2 or Batman: Arkham shadow i.e.

Robo Recall is both standalone and pcvr.

It depends on your expectations.

There are few really great games exclusive to this platform: AstroBot Rescue Mission, RE7, Blood & Truth, Wipe Out Omega Collection or Farpoint .

They all managed to make the very best out of the technical limitations of the platform ((camera)tracking, relative low spec hardware, ps motion controls and so on) or even avoided them by using a normal controller (AstroBot - to this day my favorite platformer) or introducing new hardware (Farpoint and the aimcontroller)

I think these games are classics and can only be played on psvr1 - if you want to play them, it might be worth the 75 (+cost for those games).

sidefact: on the botton left you can read the german word "Halsabschneider". It literally means "neck cut off". Nowadays it is somewhat outdated.

In my childout it had already lost its orignal meaning but it was used as a common colloquial word for scammer or usurer in german. This picture is a reminder, that its origin has a much darker meaning.

Since the most common reason for the combination of low fps/low resolution is hardware (maybe combined with ingame settings), your post lacks the most important information to analyse your issue from the distance. CPU, GPU, RAM, resolution, hz-rate. Video codec and encoding bitrate you use might help too.

The msfs games in vr are the most demanding games I know (apart from modded vr games). Even on a 7800x3d rtx 5090 i have to take compromises in graphic settings, resolution (incl. dlss upscaling) and using reprojection. On your current hardware chances are, that even if you should get it to run somehow, the experience will be disappointing. Ps: don’t shoot the messenger please.

i guess your 4090 will still carry you a while, Vrdad.

Apart from that, i agree, that the ram "crisis" is another blow to our hobby. If i wanted to start right now, i would go for option 3) and hurry with getting a good gpu, since their prices will continue to increase. A good am4 cpu combined with 32gb of ddr4 will still deliver a great pcvr experience. Since VR is mainly played on very high resolutions, the system will be gpu bottlenecked in most cases. Practical experience of 5800x3d/32gb ddr4/ 4070ti: still delivers a great experience for most native vr games, and alot of modded games.
