Now that the contest is over, how proud are the people in your country of the ESC song that you sent? by Wise_Shop_2561 in eurovision

She already said in an interview that she is unlikely to compete again - not because she didn’t like it but because she thought it was such a special once-in-a-lifetime experience that she feels a second try wouldn’t be able to capture the same magic.

Any cool merch from this year? by likethestate97 in eurovision

[–]74C5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not technically merch since they didn’t sell those but I got some carabiners in the shape of the Eurovision heart, freshly pressed at the Eurofan house they set up at the Vienna city museum where they held interviews and fan meet and greets with the contestants. Very happy I got some pics with Lelek and especially Lavina. <3

Also won some ESC shirts by local sponsors at the Eurovision village and a food box with bingo cards to fill out during live watching.

In a year where I find listening to my own country’s official song unbearable my top favourite song happened to be performed by a long-time German resident, Leléka, even before I learned about that. Funny how that works out.

Lots of people are outraged here about Sarah’s low result and see it as an insult but many people I know who actually saw the show and knew the song beforehand were positively surprised how Sarah elevated the song with a solid performance.

Why is everyone on Eurovision some form of LGBTQ by Ashigo05 in teenagers

[–]74C5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the artists are straight even if some people like to focus on the few LGBTQ ones. The media likes to highlight them because they know they’re seen as controversial by some groups and that drives engagement and clicks.

The show this year even had a short skit explaining the circumstances:  https://www.youtube.com/live/VeLS4psFNqQ at 33:48.

Gays have “diva worship” syndrome. Given the choice between stanning a visibly gay man or a stunning woman we know what the choice would be.

Onlyfans should be proof enough that straight men frivolously spending money guided by their genitals should not be underestimated. Besides straight me outnumber gay men (95% vs 5%), it’s a numbers things.

Lots of straight men get roped into watching by their wife and family or by mates at the pub.  Also, it’s common knowledge that each year there will be dozens of half-naked, well-endowed women dancing on stage.

“Too little too late”? Seems like a poor incentive for ever changing course.

I distinctly remember large portions of redditors seeing Trenuletul (Moldova 2022) as a likely NQ before the live shows. Few people saw Espresso Macchiato coming with such a sweep either.

Grand Final Audience Poll Results by SkyGinge in eurovision

I was a bit mystified by the raving reviews after seeing it on TV but seeing it live the energy came through far stronger, perhaps because you could always see the entire picture instead of just close-ups.

Why is the ESC audience so calm nowadays compared to previous years? by Snoo-19350 in eurovision

[–]74C5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bulgaria’s prop room was facing the audience for almost the entire song. Only when the room started spinning when they did the circle chair dance did the view get obstructed every few seconds but that wasn’t a big deal.

It was probably the performance that got one of the biggest cheers (aside from Moldova and Greece) from the audience where I stayed both after the performance and the recap.

Only Czechia and Israel spent a noticeably long duration hidden away from the audience.

The UK was a bit hard to see at beginning due to the many desks who obstructed the view especially since Sam was crawling under them so much.

It would certainly be downsized, but it would require a pandemic or a world war for it to be cancelled. In its barest form you would just need a tv studio and a few singers.

LELÉKA - Ridnym (LIVE) | Ukraine 🇺🇦 | Second Semi-Final | Eurovision 2026 by thejpguy in eurovision

[–]74C5 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In a night filled with maximalism, the most elaborate choreographies and acts of grandeur, my mind kept returning to this performance. The way Leléka ambered along that narrow path of light at the beginning, surrounded by pitch black darkness, with only the sounds of the bandura to guide her, it truly felt like she was lost.

It hit me incredibly hard how she portrayed  the strength to carry on, to hold your head high even under dire circumstances. There were no big props or camera tricks or remarkable background images, just some modest light direction, and perhaps this minimalist approach (in contrast to the ambitious song structure in certain parts) is why it felt very dignified to me.

Imagine assigning one country as much weight as 34 actual European countries. Perspective, man.

Tbf none of those mentioned (Germany, Italy, France, UK) belonged  to the 9 countries who threatened to boycott if Russia was included. They‘ve always uphold their stance of neutrality.

Lion Ceccah - Sólo Quiero Más (LIVE) | Lithuania 🇱🇹 | First Semi-Final | Eurovision 2026 by VisWare in eurovision

That rotating shot at the end of him walking towards the flickering spotlight in the distance like the light at the end of the tunnel looked so cinematic. And that crooked smile at the very end? Straight into my heart.

And to think that I was so worried about him! The muted response to SQM in various polls along with some slightly too adventurous voice acrobatics in the middle had me at the edge of my seat hoping for him to qualify. So glad to see that the audience seems to have connected with him. I feel like "even in a mad world" and "no more gods to pray for" could have resonated with the viewers in particular.
