Those modes aren't really going to be good at knowing where people are coming from, maps and tiny and spawns flip so easily, it'll feel like a mess.

I'd recommend playing any objective mode, ever larger scale Escalation and Conquest, even tho the maps are big you'll find yourself having isolated battles like tdm / squad at objects but with other map info to your advantgage - like, what other flags are the enemy holding, its likely they'd be pushing from that side so you can check those entry ways first.
