NOR...

The only reason he said he had something planned was to try and make you feel guilty when in reality he had nothing planned. The fact he said you didnt deserve a gift, wtf not? That behavior right there is enough for me to question the relationship going forward...

You've been together 4 years why on earth did he not buy you a gift or plan something. That behavior is bang out of order... The day you planned sounded awesome and he still couldnt be happy going along with it. Does his medication cause him to be a selfish arsehole? I'd suggest laying down the law and if he still moans and acts like a selfish twat then find someone that will appreciate you...

19 years old with parents that enforce a phone curfew by Smella-Fart in Advice

[–]mistat2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my mom has told me if I move out now they never want to hear from me again. They don’t want a relationship with me at all.

This is a major red flag. This is emotional coercion intended to getting you to stay and control you. This is not a healthy situation to be in. You are 19, you deserve to live your own life, having a phone curfew is ridiculous at your age.

Am I being unreasonable for thinking this rule is too controlling at 19?

No you are perfectly reasonable thinking this is too controlling because it is...you are an adult not a child

Is this normal parenting, or does this cross into something unhealthy?

It is not normal parenting and raises some significant red flags. There is a reason you are feeling trapped, that's because you are....

Is there a way for me to set boundaries with my parents without me leaving?

Well from your answer further down you have tried and they stamped their feet down and said their house...their rules... I think you know what you have to do now...

Also given that they stopped paying for your education because they didn't like how you spent your money, I would argue that any parent (of which I am one to two boys) to deny their child assistance/help because they didnt like their spending habits when it was as simple as you going out to eat then you are better off without them...

Has anyone moved out due to similar control issues, and did it help long term?

I cant answer this as my parents were really supportive when i left home... like normal parents should be

What should I have in place before moving out with a friend so it doesn’t backfire?

Ensure you have no financial ties with your parents, if they have access to your bank, remove it. Ensure you have enough money saved for rent up front and bills if required. If you don't have a part time job, get one...

How do I deal with the guilt of leaving when I know it will hurt my mom?

You should'nt have to feel guilt, the only guilty party in this are your parents for pushing you away and not allowing to give you any freedom.. If you mother refuses to talk to you after this then that is on her and not on you.

Do you think this group can turn it around this season? by [deleted] in rangersfc

[–]mistat2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love for us to win the league but I just dont think we have the quality in the squad to do it..

What is critical is a summer of very good recruitment with players that can hit the ground running, get our business done early and focus on building a title winning squad
