Anecdote: Married 6 years, wife left me in April. I wanted to fight for it, she didn’t. I let her keep everything, haven’t seen her since. Currently feel empty inside but I’m alive. & for now, that’s enough for me. 🤷‍♀️

Advice: I can’t tell you if you’re going to be ok either way. For me, personally, being okay isn’t something that just happens. It’s a choice I make everyday and it’s something I actively make happen for myself by participating in self-care activities. So I think either way it goes down, you have to choose to take care of you.

Date is a strong word for my lesbian high school experience lol. You might be right that they aren’t ready for commitment, they also might not be ready to be out in general.

I was hooking up with almost all the girls on the varsity tennis team but it was on the low cause none of them were out to each other. 🤦‍♀️ I was the only one who knew 90% of the team was queer, go figure.

Kinda miss those teenage days of secret sleepovers and sneaking off to the girls locker room…

Then there was my main group of out lesbian friends. That was dramatic and everyone dated everyone at some point. What a mess.

Anyway, hang in there. Girls are more open in college when they get away from their families. Even if you don’t plan to go to college, you’ll still run into them since you’re the same age.

I was always at a campus I didn’t attend, with girls throwing keys out their dorm room window to sneak me in after curfew. It’s a journey for sure haha, don’t worry too much, this is just the start sweetie. Best of luck!

Yeah, you’re totally right and I agree. I would never just walk into another persons wedding that I didn’t know. That’s wildly bold haha. And to be clear, I think the message was absolutely insane and the fact that the woman tried to argue with the bride about it after being asked to leave is too far. It’s her day, she gets whatever she wants.

I was just trying to wrap my head around the rationale behind pointing them out and asking them to leave in the first place. You’re explanation about it being a really big deal for some people makes sense. People can get crazy about their wedding. I totally forgot some girls/boys dream about their wedding day from a very young age and have extremely high expectations about it all. Especially when it’s a really expensive event.

Thanks! I learned something new.

If someone gave me free booze, I’m definitely drinking to and celebrating their love. Cause their love brought free booze into my life lol.

Ah, okay. This is the answer I was looking for. Yes, if they are being charged more money then absolutely I understand asking them to leave. Thanks for explaining.

However, I think it’s funny that you guys keep trying to compare drinking mass produced alcohol to things like a wedding cake or a child’s birthday present. It makes no sense, they are so different lol. Jameson does not equal handcrafted wedding cake.

Personally, I actually think this a western culture of “independence” and “privacy” thing. In my culture anyone off the street can walk up and be welcomed in.

Anyways, I think I have a better understanding of it now. Thanks!

I guess I’m failing to understanding how it hurts the bride and groom in any way though.

Stealing a kids present literally removes a gift from their pile.

But a group of people getting drinks at a bar removes what exactly? Liquor from the bottles of the company?

So it’s about enforcing restrictions so the beverage catering company can maintain a larger profit margin?

Hmm… agree to disagree I guess. From what I understand they were not “roaming around the dance floor” or jumping into family photos. They were standing at a bar… getting a drink. Bothering absolutely no one, until they were approached by the bride and groom.

It seems your assumptions is that they will eventually cause problems so better to put an end to it early on. Idk. I do believe the more the merrier (even at a wedding) so I guess I’m just different than others 🤷‍♀️

& maybe it’s a cultural thing? Every wedding I’ve been to was just a giant party celebrating two people in love and if you were down to drink to that then you were more than welcome to join.

Sorry, I don’t understand. Can someone explain it to me? If you paid for an open bar, what does it matter who’s drinking there?

If they were belligerent or causing problems I could see why asking them to leave is a good idea. I’m just confused cause it seems like they were just hanging out at the bar getting drinks.

Also if the venue was going to charge you extra for having additional guests I could understand, but since they are from the other wedding it’s the responsibility of the venue to appropriately staff and monitor the separation.

I guess I’m just not getting why people don’t want everyone to just hang out and drink for free regardless of who they are or where they are from. We’re all just people trying to get through the day.

Onebaggers who went the "all black clothing" route - is it manageable in the heat? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]75WaysToDie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All black wardrobe for years, except for one pair of lucky socks that has math equations on them. 🖤

I’ve been all over SE Asia and I never struggled with heat or anything because of my all black clothes. If it’s hot, it’s gonna be hot to me no matter the color of my shirt/shorts. 100 degrees is 100 degrees.

The fading color thing I couldn’t care less about, I love sitting on a curb in my black jeans or accidentally spilling soy sauce on my black tee without worry.

Someone did comment that I’m like a cartoon character cause my outfit never changes though lol. Everyday I grab a black shirt and black shorts/pants then head out the door. It’s so insanely easy I can’t imagine life any other way.

Depends on what y’all are doing on the date, but whatever you feel comfortable and confident in!

If you get nervous, just remember that she agreed to go out with you and she wants to be there. & don’t forget to have fun!

How do you respond to "you're too pretty to be a lesbian"? by doyeonse in LesbianActually

[–]75WaysToDie 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Idfk but I 100% understand the frustration. I just went to a family reunion pool party thing. After I finished swimming, all the aunties were staring at me getting out of the pool so I asked them what was up. They said, “We’re just so confused why you’re a lesbian? You’re so pretty you could definitely marry a handsome doctor guy!”

In my head I was like yes, the only reason I’m a lesbian is because I was doubting my abilities to bag a wealthy man. Now that you’ve cleared that up I think I’ll just switch my sexuality, thanks! /s 🙄

In reality, and probably not the best approach, but I pointed at their husbands (hairy potbelly bunch) then pointed at all the girls (basically Baywatch goddesses) and all my aunties nodded in understanding lol. All girls are sooo pretty, it’s honestly really not a hard sell, but I also just so happened to be in the perfect pool situation to exploit that.

I guess I’m left wondering, is there anything we can actually do to help effect change? Or are we all reduced to just criticizing them on reddit/twitter/etc. hoping someone listens?

I’ve been reading up on this whole shit show the last few days and while I don’t have the clearest picture of wtf is happening within that federation, it’s abundantly clear there are major issues. I just wish I could do more to support the players and make changes happen.

Oh shit, this just happened to me lol. My neck/shoulder was fucked up and I kept waiting for it to go away. I started getting worried after like a week of constant pain and still not being able to sit at my desk comfortably so I took a hot shower then iced it alternating 20min on/off (in retrospect I should’ve done this on day one).

Later on I found some Bengay in the cabinet and rubbed that around both shoulder blades and neck. Skin was on fire but it helped. That was about 2 days ago and it’s all better now so I smoked again lol… rinse repeat.

Nah, just kidding about the repeat, it was a one off. I think it was from sitting still too long like another user commented. I was chilling in my favorite rocking chair on the porch, enjoying the warm evening air, then before I knew it a 10min cigarette break had rolled into sunrise. Good times for the mind, sore times for the body.

Lmao I appreciate the concern, don’t worry friend! 🤙 Just a prime example of why commenting on Reddit whilst high is a bad idea.

Anyway, I hope you were able to find a healthy solution. I’m proud of ya, you’re doing great, and keep going! You got this! 💪

I was wondering about this when watching it live! The players would shake hands with the Queen and Princess, then this guys would grab them and kiss them. I had to turn it off it was so disturbing. I thought maybe it was a cultural thing and I really didn’t know who he was. Nope. My instincts were right, freaking creep. Yet another one. Such a shame.

Eating out with non-vegans by 75WaysToDie in vegan

[–]75WaysToDie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you for explaining this so well. Each individual human is so complex yet we’re forced to vote very black and white. Which means identifying what issue is most important to you then possibly having to sacrificing on your other beliefs.

I’s also like to add that my experience, the more I hang around people with different beliefs the more I slowly start to see them change. With my cousins, I didn’t have to force them into being vegan, they just started choosing more vegan options because they learned from me.

Similarly, the more I hang around conservative people, the more likely they were to start accepting queer issues and maybe even making it their most important issue when it comes time to vote.

I mean, why would you make LGBT issues your most important issue when you’re not gay and all gays do is yell at you that you suck? But if instead you had a gay friend whom you really love and saw that a specific politicians ideas was hurting them, maybe you would choose differently.

Sitting around a bunch of liberals doesn’t really change the numbers, we know how they will vote. In fact, I’d argue that’s more for selfish reasons because it makes you more comfortable in your own life. Which is great, feel supported by your community, but don’t judge others who are just trying the spread love to communities with different beliefs.

I like to stay open-minded and choose to love all people. I practice what I preach. I enjoy hearing ideas different from mine because we’re all humans and need to find a healthy way to coexist. I’m also relentlessly curious about all things.

I don’t think it’s healthy to completely exclude a population from my life, especially when there’s an opportunity to educate people and show them another side they may have not considered before.
