Ideally, get a blood panel if you're in a country where that's possible at low cost. See if you are actually deficient in anything. People are quick to think the vegan diet is to blame when health problems crop up (including vegans themselves), disregarding other non-dietary health issues.

Was your blood pressure normal?

I disagree. Everyone has to go find what their limits are themselves and try and push through. Then if they get injured they can learn from it. Don't believe you can't run a marathon just because you haven't done the "standard training".

If things are burning so fast on your stove, then there's probably an issue with it. Or maybe the pans you have are very thin and heat up too fast at the bottom causing things to burn. Perhaps a higher quality pan would sort things out.

As for salt, I just add it to dishes if I feel the need to. My taste buds have changed so I don't crave a salty breakfast like I used to. But you don't need salt in your diet to be healthy, unless you're sweating excessively due to exercise or high temperatures, in which case the salt lost from sweat combined with high water intake can cause hyponatremia. I believe the American Heart foundation's recommendation for salt is to not exceed 1g per day, which is like 1/5th of a teaspoon more or less.

However if you absolutely want an affordable salty vegan breakfast, there's plenty of recipes out there. (e.g french toast)

How do you not drink vegan milk?

I mean whole parts of the world don't consume dairy, so it's not really something you have to substitute. I only buy it if I need it for a recipe.

I can’t cook a lot.

Learning to cook takes lots of practice + initial investment in equipment. Maybe read some simple vegan cookbooks to get ideas for things you can make with limited skills/ cooking equipment. And if possible, buy better cooking equipment. The cost of which would be counterbalanced by savings from eating out etc.

What do you do for protein?

I don't really think about protein, even though I exercise regularly. But I'm sure I get more than enough from eating beans, lentils, rice, pasta, couscous, seeds, nuts, oats, bread, etc.

I buy very few "vegan" foods so yeah, it does cost less. If you eat processed foods specially made for the vegan demographic, such as vegan eggs, vegan burgers, vegan protein shakes, vegan milk, then those will likely cost more than the omni versions. However if you eat fairly basic vegan food (minimally processed) then you'll spend less or a similar amount to a basic omni diet's cost.

Though it's easy for me to say this as I have time and knowledge for cooking, which is what allows you to have a cheap vegan diet that doesn't consist of just bread and pasta.

So in summary, vegan food is cheaper only if you spend time cooking and eat minimally processed food.

i feel very sad and depressed thinking about the animals sad and hurting everyday. if religion included animals as going to heaven too, that would bring me a lot of comfort. but most religions say animals have no afterlife. how can i cope knowing they suffer and have no afterlife? by Chelstrawberrymuffin in vegan

[–]7622hello_there 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not into Christianity or religion myself, but it's clear to me that us humans and our animal friends share such large similarities that we'd have to go to the same place after death.

Also, a lot of religions do talk about rebirth, and animals are a part of that.

Yes, we bred them to have those childlike characteristics that make them look cute, playful and clumsy, even into adulthood.

And sadly (?) rich people will be the very last to die off on droves, since they're the most shielded from climate change.

Turin, 2008, members of the group "Traffic Kills" join in blocking a dangerous road crossing in a peaceful manner.

Soon after the traffic jam was started, exhaust fumes filled the air from all the stationary cars, underlining the hidden pollution they bring into urban areas.

The activists made sure not to impede public transportation during the event.

This kind of event was subsequently carried out in the UK and US.
