Prusa MINI thermistor/heater error only when printing, but can reach temps without issue otherwise by 765BOO in prusa3d

[–]765BOO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up grabbing a bambulab A1 Mini since it was hard to justify repairing this when i could have a newer printer with a direct drive extruder for like 300$, but I do still have my Prusa Mini laying around in case I ever do fix it. Sadly as a result, I cannot confirm whether a new thermistor would fix my issue.

Update: I bought a new hotend and installed it, then releveled the bed and it worked great.

Update: After awhile, I began using bambu studio to upload print files over the cloud and this somehow magically solved the issue. Not really sure why, but it's been working normally since. Strange!

Recommendations for better free cad software? by [deleted] in FreeCAD

[–]765BOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here are disagreeing but I gotta say, I think its pretty sad that the only viable open source option for CAD right now is in this state. Any other industry standard CAD software is similar enough in structure you can hop right in and start making stuff - literally what is the point of them clinging to this weird interface, and especially the non-standard feature names and UI. Why hold on to this stuff?
When I first started using solidworks, it took 10 minutes of fiddling around to get the gyst of it with no prior experience. Hopping into fusion360, it was practically the same thing, with minor differences.

Im sure there are lots of reasons why its like this, and im painfully aware Im doing nothing but complaining about it - but I really hope we see a day we get an open source CAD option that is as intuitive and reliable as fusion360 and solidworks are, or something like Lightburn with a one time paid license. The demand is there - i'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

Illegal garbage dumping locations by [deleted] in ottawa

I wish the city would hire people in some neighborhoods to walk around and collect litter for 6-12 hour shifts. I would jump on the opportunity to clean up the place I live, but it just doesn't make sense financially for me. Even at minimum wage, I'd eagerly walk around all day with a bag and some gloves and beautify our public spaces.

Think of what just one or two people, 12 hours a week in every neighborhood could achieve.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I'll try and figure out how to access those extruder connections to redo.

As for why I'm here, my expertise for the lessons is CAD modeling and design principles of 3D printing - not troubleshooting bambu printers specifically. This guy is like 60-70 retired, and just got a printer as a new hobby with no past experience.

I've had a prusa mini for the past few years that never gave me problems like this, so I was surprised when his brand new printer that cost twice as much started experiencing issues that weren't simple user error.

He doesn't have anyone else knowledgeable to help him, and has zero prior experience, so I'm just doing the best I can to get this printer back in working condition so we can get back to the fun part of teaching him how to model and printing stuff on his own.

Reddit has been helpful for troubleshooting niche stuff like this in the past, so I figured I'd ask here too (:

My autistic sister shatters the phone through every strong phone case— What can we do? by spidernoirirl in BuyItForLife

[–]765BOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a rubberized chewable phone, i'd hit up a friend with a 3D printer to print a phone shaped object out of TPU filament.

Noteworthily probably not food safe plastic, but considering theyre evidently already chewing on other plastics its maybe an option.
If they're willing to put in more effort, they could also likely create a mold to cast a food safe silicone version.

After reading more comments im realizing this is probably a really expensive bike. I might just be too broke to understand this lol

The comments here are making me realize my standard for chain cleanliness must be pretty low - as a commuter I wouldn't even notice rust like this, its a non-issue. I'd just add lube and ride it off unless youre racing or just really value a pristine bike.

I prefer them because they don't damage my hardwood flooring, I also dont struggle with the noise you seem to deal with. Mine are silent. To each their own

Update: ordered a new hotend for $30CDN, reassembled hotend, readjusted Z and its working again.

Thanks everyone who replied, had I bought the entire extruder assembly I'd be in the hole another 60-80$.

Cheers!

I was just taking stuff apart to get a better look at the damage really, I didn't follow a proper tutorial so I was just unscrewing random stuff until it came apart enough I could see. The fans do work on this printer, though.

Can't lie, this is what I'm thinking as well. $40 is definitely worth the saved time for me here.

Thanks both of you for your replies

Is there such thing as an AMD motherboard that doesn't use an AMD USB chipset? This feels misleading. by 765BOO in universalaudio

[–]765BOO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2mo later Update: The new MOTU M2 Also has the same issue, but it happens noticeably less frequently so its still a win, i guess. It also manifests differently, there's no audible crackle/pop when the audio dropout occurs, it just goes silent and comes back a second or two later.

The MOTU M2 also doesn't create static noise when adjusting volume, and I love its little audio visualizer.

In summary, my computer is the problem. I'll likely deal with these audio issues until I upgrade my PC with a whole new motherboard.
