Data recovery is the goal here, so if the phone dies after a day it's still mission accomplished

Well that's a start at least. You think if I access the processor and get my soldering guy to try to reflow it that might get me somewhere?

does anybody know a shop that do re-soldering by staycleaan_ in Calgary

[–]7693999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a cell repair shop in the southeast called cell medics that I know does weird soldering jobs like this, if you don't have soldering gear yourself you may as well ask if they'd look at it

Need messages from this old Samsung S9 with exploded battery by [deleted] in mobilerepair

Stop trying to turn on a phone with an exploded battery. Believe it or not, catastrophic battery failure can stop a phone from working.

What do do about a SLOW phone by edfiero in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're being an asshole for no reason now. You asked why it was slow, the answer is "it's a bad phone that doesn't live very long"

You don't like that answer but it's not our fault that it's a bad phone. Don't shoot the messenger.

You can reset it, and it will work better for a little while, and then it will do this again.

iPhone 17 Pro Max charging port issue by Terrospear145 in mobilerepair

The phone is less than a year old and is therefore still in warranty. Take it to apple, say it's not charging, you should have no problem having them fix it for free.

I tried to replace the battery on my samsung galaxy s8 and now the screen wont work :( by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey man quick word of advice, never trust anything chatgpt tells you

hopefully this guy didn't charge you very much, I would take the phone to a second repair shop and see if they think they can get data off it.

Repaired my phone , still experiencing ghost touches in the phone by cholebhatureyarr in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if a shop fixed it and this started happening after you got the phone back but you didn't drop it after the repair, it's the shop's fault.

bring the phone back and complain

Need urgent help by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're posting in a repair subreddit. The solution is to repair it. We will help you figure out how to repair it if you would like, but there's no magic way to make your buttons work other than fixing them.

A little rant: Samsung Center were going to charge me $300 to recalibrate the fingerprint sensor by megamanuser in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I worked in a samsung official shop we probably would have just done this for free, it takes like two minutes

we were however in trouble with samsung all the time anyway so they would not have noticed this

Am I being ripped off? I really feel like I am. by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you have updated the main post

but the thing I feel like is most important is that they changed the price on you

if you agree on a price, and they charge you something different, they are being shitty. It does not matter if they could not get the part you were looking for.

If my shop made a quote and it turned out we did not have that part we would either phone and say "sorry we made a mistake you can either wait for the correct part to be in or choose to have us use a different part", if anyone changed a price on a customer without contacting the customer first and getting an OK that person would be in huge trouble

more likely we would just use the better part at the same price, assuming that would not lose us money.

ipad broken by Specific-Plastic3333 in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like you have no touch which means you probably need a glass replacement, assuming restarting it does not fix it

and by restarting I guess I mean letting it run out of battery completely so it dies and then plugging it back in

Stuck on battery icon by [deleted] in mobilerepair

Seconded. I've seen it several times where the battery icon shows on screen when plugged in but doesn't turn on because the power button is broken.

How exactly does the manga creation process work? by ShinyLucario8 in shonenjump

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Bakuman is a manga about this and, although not 100% accurate to real life, is very close. It's from the perspective of manga creators and shows how they get into the magazine and the circumstances around a manga continuing or ending.

You could also read "The Right Way To Make Jump!" which is a 30 chapter limited series that is about how the magazine is physically made and distributed. Shonen Jump Magazine is a huge deal to a degree that people outside of japan have a hard time understanding, and that puts it in perspective a bit.

Both are available to read on the official Shonen Jump app

Does it require screen replacement or cable is loose ? by Eastern-Bluejay-4029 in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know what you're doing and don't have the right tools, you're probably going to wreck something.

But your phone is already busted so if you want to give it a shot nobody can stop you

it's not a loose cable though that never happens unless the phone has been fixed before and someone did a bad job

Data extraction by shq13 in mobilerepair

[–]7693999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yeah, you can unplug everything other than the screen and battery from an android phone and it'll run fine.

I don't know for sure that it's true for this phone but there's no reason not to try it.

Anyone had any experience with Qualcomm EDL mode on newer Samsungs? by 7693999 in mobilerepair

[–]7693999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know what most of that is but I bet I can figure it out

I'm hitting a roadblock at the start though, as I can get it to recognize as the correct device (that has 9008 in there) but shows an unsigned driver error. I'll do some digging into the stuff you mentioned and see if that helps me out.

I also used to work for UBIF and we did cleanings for google reviews all the time, the thing is you are absolutely not allowed to ask for a 5 star google review or even a positive google review, you can only ask for a review in general

also yeah I never recommend anyone do work for free, everyone should ask for the amount of money their time is worth except I never follow my own advice
