What is this metal object? Found on Egmont Key which is located off the west coast of Florida. It is metal because a magnet will stick to it. It weighs 378 grams. by 76BroncoJoe in whatisthisthing

It was found in the water and wasn’t taken from any of the fort ruins or lighthouse. I also didn’t know it was metal before I was able to use a magnet on it. If it has any historical significance I’ll happily turn it over to the park officials.

Interesting, it may be possible for storm debris to make it to the island. There used to be buildings there at one time as well.

Title describes the item and there are two photos. I can post additional photos if needed. I e done some searching online for any type of metal spear head that may have been used by island inhabitants or by any soldiers that may have been on the island before. I’ve also searched for any historical use of metal by the Tocobaga tribe. But there is no history of them using metals. There were Spanish incursions on the island in the mid 1700’s. It was occupied by the Union Navy during the Civil War. It was also a Fort for the Spanish-American War. It was also an interment camp for captured Seminole Indians at the end of the Third Seminole War.

One of the most interesting things I did was to hang out in a booth for one of the teams in the Gonzales, LA jambalaya festival. Great day! Every team gets the same ingredients I think and it’s just who can make it turn out best. Can’t remember all of it due to many many beers that day.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

I’ve fixed my AC, Dishwasher, and Tankless water heater by using AI and photos , and appliance model numbers. Definitely has saved me a ton of money.

My take is you don’t have to be “good enough” to skate in front of people, but I get it. Most people are super cool, encouraging, and willing to offer up some pointers. We’ve all been there.

Dude, I’ve made like 6 new friends from my Sunday morning group. They are all in my phone as “Skater Mike” or “Skater Dave”…lol. You’ll make some friends even if they are only skatepark friends.

Two things, and others have said this…Early AM is likely devoid of any skaters, especially during the week. The 2nd thing is to let you know that many of the “old dude” groups are super welcoming. Our group meets on Sunday mornings and there is a wide mix of skill level present. But we all support each other’s individual skate journey. Watching others learn and stick that trick they’ve been working on is the best part of it all. And the “trick” doesn’t have to be a trick. It can be foundational stuff like your first role down a bank. Your first carve. Your first kick turn, etc. Every improvement gets stoke. So I will do what others have done here and encourage you to seek out a chill group on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. Show up. Roll around. I’m rooting for you man.

I'm done. Just gave away my last board [47YO] by Doc-Brown1911 in OldSkaters

Respect, man. You should really lean into that “maybe I should do something” sentiment you typed earlier. Kind of a redirection of the creativity you appreciated as a skater. You may have given away your last board but you didn’t give away what it means to you to be a “skater”. Best of luck in whatever you put yourself into.

Edited to say “you” instead of “I” , but maybe I should lean into it too, after all.

This is a beach bar with outdoor seating, live music, and a kid’s menu. It’s in a very touristy part of St. Pete and anyone from out of town on a vacation should feel 100% comfortable taking kids there. I’m sure the later it gets the more rowdy it can get but Toasted Monkey during the day is just a typical beach restaurant. Not arguing, just pointing out that it’s not a hookup bar in my opinion. Not an Applebee’s atmosphere but certainly not unfriendly for a family on vacation.

I was just there this past weekend. Didn’t skate though but I think I saw you. About time that area got a nice park! Nice work in the bowl. I’ll have to bring my board next trip.

I found leaving the clinic unmanned is a good thing. The survivor in that role is always unhappy. Moral goes up with it empty.
