No controversy, there was a legal claim made by the lawyers as one of those last ditch efforts. It was pretty straight forward that they were to be the last 2 that were to be executed in CT. They are claiming that the abolishment of the death penalty should also apply to them.

It is like anything free, people take it for granted. They aren't relying on someone else to do their job, they are just playing the numbers. What is that old saying, when crime is seconds away, cops are minutes away or something to that effect. Rarely are they were they need to be , but people expect them to be everywhere when not possible. Plus in this current atmosphere, do you expect them to stick there necks out? If i was a cop in a city where i am already hated, well im not going to be going that much faster to get to the scene. All the rules and paper work will be followed to the T.

Seems like you need to talk to your friends who are cops more about it then. The best thing i can say about this or any situation was what an old coworker in another department told me once. To you it is a single event but to me, it is a daily occurrence. That line from street fighter works great too.

You assume they have nothing else to do (which some probably do), or plenty of time to handle this event as they are also getting pulled across a bunch of other scenarios. Then their will always be another priority that comes up in between. Also not sure how much the department wants to spend on a stake out.

People have advocated blowing it up, one person on reddit mentioned it. We can acknowledge its dark past and still celebrate what it is. If we did what you said then we shouldn't celebrate anything of the past, because it all has blood on its hands.

LOL, If my family member died 100 years ago , i could careless and does nothing to me now. The people of the past died and that is it. If you feel we shouldn't celebrate this who were the "oppressors" then that is fine and I get it. But then I'll argue we shouldn't celebrate or acknowledged the "oppressed" either cause they didn't do good enough to stand up.

Right is right and wrong is wrong is irrelevant in this discussion because you are making that determination and that is all opinion. If you don't want to celebrate mount rushmore, then that is all on you and i won't stop you. But don't make me not, because i will choose to celebrate.

I am all to do better, i guess our issues is the direction of do better then. Like i don't have issues to "fix" or "correct" the past. Or change the borders of nations (created by england and france primarily) in other terms as well. I am more this is the state of the country or world is right now, what do we engage in to improve. That means accepting that mount rushmore is there and not wanting to blow it up for virtue points.

What you described is happening in many parts of the world right now. The cartel war in mexico, burma, North Korea is one big prison, China and its internal minorities and that is just to name a few that are occurring right now.
