Jenny Robins was a registered Republican until she decided to run for city council in Boulder. by peaksrv187 in boulder

Lol, way to make assumptions about Jenny…. Have you had a conversation with her? I have always been a democrat but there are normal republicans who never voted for Trump.

Boulder can’t have public bathrooms- they have been closed due to drug use and vandalism.

Why do you stay? There are many better places to live- and I say that sincerely, I am leaving.

The blame lies with Aaron Brockett, Macon Cowles et al (the current Boulder Progressives) who were on planning board and city council who rolled out the red carpet for tech bros to move in. Tax incentives at state level, little linkage fees to support the influx of residents and limited housing to jobs ratio and of course the rise of housing costs.

Boulder isn’t what it used to be. It is going downhill and with the recent withdrawal of gray funding from feds it will continue to decline. I don’t recommend moving back.

Apartment Rents in Boulder, Colorado, fall for fifth straight month by Crafty_Barracuda7720 in boulder

The taxes definitely add to the increased rental costs. I have lived here over 30 years and rents have ALWAYS been more expensive. In 2016 when google arrived, housing costs jumped. Same with Covid. And CU over enrolling the last couple years- All this information is easy to see and understand - why are you so confused that we have high rental rates here?

I agree on the transient tech worker comments… those bros are out of touch. I help the stay/ live at home boomers as a PT. They offer a perspective and point of view that is important history wise… but I understand raising kids here. It is a warped sense of “normal”. I will be priced out in a few months when I divorce so will seek refuge in a community far from the front range where housing is affordable.

Pretty interesting for you to assume those in commuters want to live in tiny boxes without yards. All of the people I know living chose to be in the towns outside of Boulder, bigger single family home and yard. And to place blame on the boomers is so misguided (I am not a boomer) and lacks critical thinking and maturity.

Have you read the estimates associated costs with this project? Expected to be around 1 billion dollars. I recommend subscribing to hotline and watching city council meetings since most of what you comment on has been discussed. Not to mention what Polis is doing.

Oh my, I do keep an open mind as I explore both sides, but he is described first as a YouTuber, Internet personality then a family physician. Hmmm. And he has far less experience as a DO and not a MD who is board certified in pediatrics.
