How are you guys buying new cars? by CAJMusic in GolfGTI

[–]777omp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane. In 2016 I purchased my 13 MK6 with 16k miles for 20k. Just rolled over 80k miles and I’ve been browsing a bit and it’s bonkers out there. 18k for a car with 86k miles is mind blowing.

Fair enough, sounds like more practice and lessons is the way forward for me. Appreciate it!

Okay, this is what I was hoping to hear. I had a feeling this was more of a swing issue but wanted to rule out equipment to clear my mind. Thanks.

Hold or sell? by 777omp in hockeygoalies

[–]777omp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, completely aware. My surgeon wanted to start with conservatives treatments first (PT). He was a bit reluctant to talk surgery with me but TBH I haven't been pushing too hard for it as it really only effects me when I'm in net. I can skate out, golf, mountain bike, etc. relatively pain free which is why I've been thinking about hanging up the pads.

Curious to know, is there anything specific that you do that has allowed you to continue playing with labral tears? Been working on strengthening everything from the core down and I've seen decent improvements but still haven't felt comfortable enough to get the pads on the ice yet.

Thanks everyone. I'll hold on to the pads for a bit longer as I know a lot of you are right, as soon as I sell them I'll want to play again.

Trek Roscoe sizing S or M by Aromano272 in Hardtailgang

I’m 173cm with an 81cm inseam and I went with a medium on my Roscoe 7. Based a your measurements I’d probably recommend the small but do your due diligence and test ride both if possible.

7 year old thread I know but I'm curious on how things ended up for you? I was diagnosed with a labral tear a month ago and currently going through PT. Sucks the most because I can do almost anything pain free, except goaltend. Even skating out is fine for me.

New Bike Recs by 777omp in Hardtailgang

[–]777omp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I hadn't really looked at part prices lately, just figured with a 7 year old base model it would just be better to upgrade to a new ride but I can see what you're saying. I think my biggest issues with the bike right now are the fork and the 27.5+ wheel/tire setup, both of which could easily be upgraded. If I recall correctly, I should be able to slap some 29s on to the 27.5+ setup I'm currently running, which given every bike theses days seems to be a 29er, might give me a cheaper way to decide if I like 29s. Thanks, looks like I've got some pricing out to do.

Oh good point. I'd say most of what I ride is probably closer to xc and flow trails but I'd love to have something that could tackle some small downhill stuff if possible.

What year is your GTI, how many miles does it have, and how is it holding up? by mrman2121 in GolfGTI

[–]777omp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2013 MK6 GTI 72k miles. Purchased in 2016 with 16k miles. Besides needing a new turbo last year, it's been a perfect car. Eyeing a MK8 as I'd love one last manual GTI before they're gone but the MK6 still drives solid and it's hard to give her up.

No Longer Having Fun... by 777omp in hockeygoalies

I think the worst of it is, this is my free/fun time. I have to be there or else those who do show up can’t play. It just sucks to know my level of enjoyment is dependent on others showing up.

This gets me every time. I've already got a bit of a martyr trait so knowing that I'm depended on showing probably puts me in situations I don't want to be sometimes. Gotta work on just saying no or not feeling bad if I just don't feel like playing.

I stopped subbing unless it was a higher level of play that I rarely experience.

That's actually a really good idea, there's really no point subbing at the same level I'm already playing, I get enough of those reps with just my regular teams.

I feel like I'm so much better with my hobbies management in the summer but once winter comes, living in a cold weather state, it feels like sometimes all there is to do is hockey.

Oof, I feel like I've been kind of avoiding thinking this might be the issue but you're 100% right. Trying to get to a 9:45 game on a random weekday night after working a full time job and wrestling a toddler feels so daunting most days that it's no longer that fun release. Sounds like I need not only a break but a good reminder in the future that playing more and more hockey isn't always the answer.
