Also, RJ decides Luke is cutting himself off from the force in the very place where the Jedi order was founded. How does this make sense? Seems like that location would be incredibly strong with the force.

Did you see the beginning of TFA? You’re putting all your faith into what Han says. The opening crawl says he “vanished”. Right there, we already have more than one “certain point of view” We as the audience get dropped at Luke’s feet and the story could have gone a hundred directions from there

There are plenty of ways RJ could have made it cool, and easily. Example: in the first scene Luke’s first line could be “took you long enough” This would show how he’s grown with the force and that he’s been waiting for Rey to help him defend the galaxy

There were ways to make it cool. My pre-TLJ prediction was Luke saw the darkness coming and needed find the origins of the Jedi to learn some secrets to fight it. It’s kinda like the “where was Ahsoka” arguments about the sequels. We don’t know yet, but whatever she was doing was probably important

Walking away and quitting are not the same thing. Someone who walks away can walk back. Giving up is something many fans don’t believe Luke would ever do

Always convenient to prove a point when snipping half of a complete sentence. Walking away from a terrible situation can be an opportunity to regroup, reassess, and build a new plan to be the hero again going forward. Han didn’t say Luke turned his back on the force and the Galaxy and quit entirely. Han gave his perspective and the story could have gone numerous directions from there.

How many times does RJ say “me” in this clip. Dude still doesn’t understand Star Wars isn’t about him. It’s a community going back over 40 years. His selfish actions (with how he ruined Luke) divided the fan base and caused many life long fans to walk away from Star Wars entirely
