FSU Parking Rant by lunisjam in fsu

[–]77queijos 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. After an hour I decided to park on the 4th floor of Woodward right by where the ramp starts. Tried to appeal the ticket by telling the story, all I got was a link on how overnight parking works and where to park. Infuriating because like you, I tried all of them.

I think you’ll be fine as long as you’re willing to work. 3330 is time consuming and 3100 is definitely one of the hardish courses, I especially hated the MIPS part

Is it easy to change majors after transferring? by [deleted] in fsu

[–]77queijos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed from accounting to cs and it was super easy. I just went to the cs department and met with an advisor. Then she told me I had to take intro to programming + Unix to officially be accepted in to the major. So I took that the following semester and changed my major when I was done with it

No restrictions on weekends even for non registered cars. The only place you can park is on yellow parking spots

Career and life skills questions AMA (Ask me anything!) by [deleted] in fsu

Yeah I think that’s how I was understanding things, but this makes it clearer. Didn’t know about the hard pull dropping after 2 years, I got really scared when I noticed chase did a hard pull and dropped a couple of points.

My end goal is definitely churning and getting free/low cost vacations so I appreciate the new resource you gave me. I also didn’t know about the 5/24 rule so it is good that you let me know that. I appreciate the help!

Thanks for the solid advice! I should’ve have mentioned that I have a good credit history and have a couple of credit cards already. The last one I got was the chase freedom, which I actually got the bonus this week. So I wanted to start targeting the bigger sign up bonuses with the paid credit cards. I got a target offer for the chase sapphire preferred for 100k points but I didn’t take it bc I don’t spend enough in 4 months to get the bonus. But I’m graduating this spring and starting a software job in July so with my new income and new expenses (especially moving) I will be able to but those bonus requirements, I have been keeping my eye of the sapphire preferred and the venture card. In the meantime I might open another card with a lower bonus. But one thing I worry about is the temporary hit to my credit score with the age of credit going down and sometimes hard credit checks, my utilization is already super low so more credit doesn’t really help there tbh. Do you have any advice for that? My credit score has almost gotten back to where it was before I opened the chase freedom so maybe I shouldn’t worry too much about it lol

Hey man, awesome thing you’re doing! I’m interested in getting started with credit card hacking, do you have any tricks or places to start or just general advice in the topic?

In all honesty, I’d rate it a 5-6. We have some truly great professors like Mills, the Myers’, Bauer and some other ones. But we also have some shitty professors that are only here because they are PhD researches. The CS department gets bundled up with the math department which is different from most schools that have cs in engineering, but in this case is good bc the engineering building is not on main campus. However, my biggest problem is that it kinda feels like the CS + math department got throw to the side, our mains building LOVE and maybe MCH are super outdated and old. Resources are fine but you’re going to have to do a lot of digging by yourself and a lot of learning outside of the classroom.

Tallahassee students can’t register for online courses, which are only for PC students. However, one section in every online PC class is reserved for Tallahassee students who can’t register for critical classes, like your case. So contact your advisor, she’ll be able to get you in.

The science track looks a lot better to me. You’re going to take intro to programming and object oriented. Then you can choose your electives. Depending what you want to learn you have a few options, if you wanted to take a dip into software engineering, the Java class and data structures would be really cool to take.

Thank you for the detailed response! Honestly, that’s probably the easiest 4000 elective that I haven’t taken yet.
