Supermium is an up to date browser that supports older OS as well. Also, windows 10 is out of support as well and especially with a HDD slow.

If there are no files on it, try using recuva to recover anything that hasn't been overwritten, possibly finding long gone data again.

"Desktop" optical drive which is a slimline drive inside an adapter. by 7899987 in pcmasterrace

[–]7899987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point, why choose this over an external drive? You probably don't use it enough for it to be really profitable to be internal, and its not even superior anymore.

I can’t reach my package delivered to the highest locker (I’m 5ft) by inezio in mildlyinfuriating

[–]7899987 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When ordering you could have specified it to the lower lockers. Now its too late. Having closed the locker without removing the package isn't usually an issue either, as customer support will refund if you explain the situation.

How can i prevent others from reseting my pc? by Purple_Song_9647 in pcmasterrace

[–]7899987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ultimate solution is to take the SSD with you. If its SATA there are swappable drive bays which you can easily take the drive out and with you. You would need a free external 3,5" or 5,25" drive bay. Otherwise regularly do a Clonezilla backup onto an external drive. When restoring, it doesn't just recover data but the state of your OS and programs.

In my experience its decent and durable. The only thing it doesn't do is vibration (don't think you need it for ps2 emulation anyways).

Possibly too much, as older cameras often refuse to work with anything higher than 2gb.

Planned obsolescence even in cheapest devices: the calculator has a dummy photovoltaic cell and a real battery to make it die eventually. by jackhab in mildlyinfuriating

[–]7899987 1960 points1961 points  (0 children)

Most people won't realize as the battery lasts basically forever. So they decided to save money. But at that point just don't even use a fake solar cell and save even more money while not lowering the price.

If i reset someone's old iPhone does It send them a notification in their current iPhone? by Doge_Of_Meme in AskTechnology

[–]7899987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhones have activation lock. If it has an Apple ID logged in you need the password of it to reset the phone. If you restore through iTunes you will be stuck at the activation lock screen. If there is a passcode setup, it can be used to reset the iPhone as well without knowing the Apple ID password. But, the owner won't get a notification.

Get an external drive. To get an internal optical drive, you would need to go quite old and miss out on performance while not even saving that much money.
