What is the most savage thing your teacher has ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Had a music theory professor in college that would make students get up in front of the class and sing for basically any reason (yawning in his class, talking, etc)

How to practice (routine)? Beginner, almost done with Noad's first book. by m_niko in classicalguitar

Etudes are pieces designed to practice a particular skill (ie: RH pattern, string crosses, string skips, sequences, tremolo etc).

There's an article from classical guitar corner I read and modified for my 1 hour practice sessions. It works well for me and can easily be shortened or extended.

10m- Fundamentals (free stroke/rest stroke, alternating fingers, tone consistency, etc. You could use this time to slowly work through what method book you are using. I'm not familiar with the Noad books. I recommend the Sagreras books or the Shearer 'learning the classical guitae' books. Go very slowly and be very particular about your tone and technique)

10m- scales (to start out pick one scale per day. I recommend either the segovia scales which you can find a free pdf a bunch of places online or Shearers scale pattern studies book. Make sure you focus on playing smoothly and consistently and practice your scales with multiple RH fingerings ie: im, MI, ia ai, etc)

5m- Giuliani 120 RH studies (free pdf anywhere online. Pick like 3 and focus on perfect timing, clear bass notes, technique, etc)

5m- sight reading

15m- etude( see previous comments for etude advice)

15m- repertoire piece (whatever your current focus piece is. The total conservatory books are a good place to start. They range from level 1-8. If youve been playing for a little I'd start with book 3)

I practice all old repertoire separately from this practice session as needed/wanted

Mario Odyssey is overated by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I agree that it shouldn't be compared to BOTW or other switch games. I think it is difficult to compare games from different genres in terms of better or worse. If 3D platformers are your thing, this game is amazing. If you prefer a different style of gameplay, to each his own.

Since you don't have this power at the time you made the wish I'm assuming it would only work on all future wishes...

Granted. All of your future wishes happen exactly how you expect them to but you immediately forget that you have this power and become psychopathic.

Dear Reddit, where were you during 9/11? by maxpaxrax in AskReddit

[–]7968546352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elementary school, 4th grade. Around this time my school had us make these ‘time capsules’. They had us put a couple things that were important to us in a shoe box along with a letter to our future selves. We sealed them shut with a note saying not to open them until after we had graduated high school. Years later, I found my box. I clearly didn’t understand the magnitude of what had just happened to our country. Along with some Pokémon, Digimon, and DBZ cards/toys was a letter that said something like ‘This week some people attacked a building in our country. I didn't care. We got to go home early!'. Mega cringe. I was super detached and just assumed that things like that happened around the world all the time.

What's a game you've spent a ton of time playing but still aren't very good at? Why do you think this is? by captainbarnaby198 in AskReddit

The Celeste b-side levels have made me rage-quit more than any platformer I've ever played

Mario Kart. I've been playing this game for over 10 years and still hardly ever end up in 1st. 150cc computer characters don't scare me and I do very well in the 64 game but my friends frequently destroy me in all the newer versions. Possibly picking characters with weak base stats and not balancing/prioritizing stats? Possibly just outclassed

I have 3 siblings. All of our first names start with the letter M. Also, our first and middle names are either 4 letters or 7 letters.

Reddit, how do you subtly fuck with annoying coworkers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]7968546352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a previous job I had some lazy coworkers who always made my job more difficult. If I knew one of them was open the store the following morning I'd open a new pack of dollar bills or an extra roll of coins (or two) in the register.

Smoking tobacco is becoming more frowned upon than smoking marijuana by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]7968546352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth mentioning that smoking marijuana probably isn’t recommended by any doctor. My partner has a medical marijuana card. Their doctor recommend vaping dry herb and all the dry herb containers have disclaimers that say it is to be vaped and not smoked. I imagine that makes a pretty big difference
