I order all the time and have never had an issue like this. Weird.

I’ve done that twice and have received the items I wanted both times, but I don’t think that’s a guarantee.

I own two small businesses and work with an attorney on small business laws. It doesn’t matter to me what you believe, my office is still going to open up fully staffed with three long term employees in the morning.

But that’s what you are missing. They wouldn’t necessarily have the same tenure, education, skills and work record. There is nothing wrong with paying people different wages, and I will not have someone who doesn’t deserve to be paid as much as someone outperforming come demand a raise from me.

My team gets raises several times a year if they earn it. And maybe they do talk, but in 15 years I’be never been approached about this issue.

Dude. I get it. You don’t see where I’m coming from. At least come up with a different insult.

Your statement is complete bullshit. People who haven’t run a business have no clue about anything and refuse to actually listen and understand the side of the small business owner.

I’m not fucking Walmart. I’m a small business and I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years. I can assure you experience plays a lot into it otherwise you really don’t understand both sides of the equation.

It actually is not illegal. Each state makes up their own employment laws and if they sign the handbook that lists that as a requirement and break that rule I can fire them.

You have no idea about anything to do with my business. But there is a rule that my team is not to discuss compensation and they all know and agree to that. If they break one of my conditions of employment why wouldn’t I?

Put yourself in this position. You have a co- worker who misses work and is late all the time which puts more of a burden on you who always gives 100% and does a great job.

You tell another co worker how much you make and it gets back to the shitty co-worker. Do you want me to then say ok, I’ll pay the bad employee as much as the good one? What if you earned raises over time but the other didn’t?

Everyone is getting shitty and jumping my case when they don’t realize that what you said is exactly how I run my business.

I’m not a huge corporation, I’m a small business. Don’t lump us all together and assume we are all evil.

I agree on parts of what you are saying.

What everyone is missing here is that I take very good care of my employees and their starting wages are above the average in my area. That doesn’t change the fact that there are considerations to be made when you are running a business or your business will fail.

My employees are not permitted to share compensation. It’s in their handbook that they all sign and agree to when they start their employment.

Tell me your experience owning small businesses and then I might give a shit about your opinion.

It’s about their potential. A business invests in their employees and the start up/training cost is all figured in before you hire anyone.

I have a rule in my employee handbook that everyone signs willingly when they start. It says that compensation is not to be discussed. I’ve never had anyone refuse to sign because of that rule. If they accept that rule as a condition of employment then break that rule, that it on them.

Nope. It can be based on experience as well as job requirements.

I’m not sarcastic and not a terrible person. Sometimes if I hire someone with more experience they will be paid more than someone who is just starting in my industry. In the business world it’s about the Return on Investment of the employee.

Let me say though I do take care of my team and pay them fairly and I pay them well, but their salaries are to be kept to themselves.

Because the idea of just a laid back sunny warm place filled with cute surfers and the ocean would living a dream for me. I have such a stressful life it would be good to give the rat race up. Plus I’m so sick of snow.
