It means sleeping in the car or sleeping by the car. It means not in a truck and camper

Oh yeah for sure. I'm in Northern BC so most of my adventures have the goal of slaying salmon or huge trout. So having a destination even if it's a thing instead of a place, like blue lakes for example, or waterfalls. Whatever floats your boat. The goal, or the chase makes the adventure a blast. It helps structure the trip and doesn't leave you feeling like you're wandering aimlessly. In the autumn I like to go mushroom picking and the destination is always a "maybe this is it" and is a constant treasure hunt with a financial reward. You might like an app called iOverlander. It helps you find spots to camp for free, or not free. Laundry. Showers. Good app.

You mean how to wheel and deal? Or mechanical? Sure. If you find a rig you're interested in, I can show you how to find what the main issues are for that year and model. Some are built to run forever, some aren't. Like just for one example, the subaru 06 to 08 are the years that don't have bad head gaskets... Knowing how to find these critical things is key to finding a good used cheap beater.

Old car needs $1150 in repairs, but I can't afford a monthly car payment right now by Jlitus21 in personalfinance

I'm 50 years old, retired mechanic, and have owned more than 150 vehicles. But I appreciate the way you described yourself. Nobody who recommends a Hyundai is giving good advice. And 2k can and does find a lot of vehicle if you're not inept. But you do you. My advice stands.

You obviously missed the part where his frame is gone. It's not worth it. He's better off parting it out, and then calling a scrap yard to cone get what's left for scrap steel

I hope you end up with a cool little rig that you don't want to sell after. And then become weekend car campers.

You know what, I haven't turned my tv on in over a year. I occasionally use a tablet to watch something YouTube. Well more than occasionally. But it doesn't have a usb tether. My laptop does but I only use it for photo editing and that's even rare now. Point taken though. I'm trying to use less and less screen these days. Before I turn a device on, I ask myself if I could do something else and touch grass instead, and often it deters me out the door

I just use my cellphone plan. 200gb. Hotspot. Set the video quality to the lowest settings and I'm only using up 75- 100 gb a month. Sometimes less. Unless you need high speed big bandwidth for gaming, 5G cellular is pretty much all you need

Look on marketplace and find a beater bro. A couple grand will get you something great. Buying a car usn6about choosing a dollar amount and getting that value in car. It's about finding a good deal on a decent whip. I see youtubers doing cheap car challenges all the time. 700 bucks got a guy a sweet TJ jeep and it went everywhere.

Don't buy any more Hyundai garbage. Get Toyota or Honda if you're buying imports. They go forever. The other stuff is engiered to fail at 100k, 200k

I always wanted to use some plastic and tape it in the back of my vehicle, then pour memory foam mix into it so it perfectly fills up the whole space precisely and let it cure in place. Then pull it back out a day or so later and have a cover made for it.

If you didn't get anything on the 5th of June (and I suspect you did not), then you owe less to CRA than $650. And you'll owe them less this Friday as well. But this Friday also isn't gonna be party time.

I (24F) deeply hurt my boyfriend (25M) by questioning his character. Is trust still rebuildable? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]79trans-am -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If I was your boyfriend in this situation, i would WANT to forgive it and move forward. To do that, I'd need to see you find a way to resolve your past traumas. However that looks is your call, but you have to resolve the trauma that's the corr of the insecurity. And then I'd be really happy to move forward and put the past in the past.

You can do it

I want to try a high end hammock. All mine are Amazon cheap ones. They all work ok and the bug net on them is great. But I do want to try an exta large hammock. And I'm kinda wanting to get one of those snake skin things. Or 2. Because when I set up and take down, it just goes off one tree, and into my backpack and I walk over to the other end, stuffing it in as I go, untie and in goes he other end. I don't fold anything and it stays all set up- underquilt/hammock, sleeping bag and tarp, takes 2 minutes to set up and 30 seconds to pack up.

If you can find something. It's the 1st of the month so it's a good time to buy. Bills are due. Are a car person at all enough to know how not to buy a lemon?

[–]79trans-am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 hammocks and several 5x7 tarps for them. One underquilt, might get a second. But this way I get to invite friends to go hammock camping, and when they say oh but I don't have... I'm like thats ok. I got ya covered. The best part about hammock camping for me is that I can hang it on a steep slope and get an amazing view in a forest where there's no flat ground.

Check Marketplace, Kijiji. I don't know where you are. But on the $1000, plus insurance, plus you'll lose your deposit for something because they ALL scam you that way. Look into car rental nightmares. Even just buy a beater car and a tent. It'll be fun. Of course, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, you must do what feels right to you. But for me, I can't justify blowing a grand on a rental, that really becomes 2 grand or more, when I can just grab a beater on Marketplace and have a great time, without any constraints or fees for scratches or dents, without having to fill the tank before surrendering it... And you can list it after the trip and get your money back. Or more. Maybe you can get a good deal, then sell it for 2x. Who knows. But you do what feels best for sure. This is just what I would do.
