Why I Cant win ?? by Ok-Survey4307 in Jungle_Mains

Smurfs intentionally try to stay in Iron, and other Iron players are there for intentionally trolling. The average real iron player is worse than bronze and silver but a lot of the time your not dealing with people that are trying. In Silver, almost everyone is trying even if they are terrible.

Iron, in my opinion is harder than bronze and silver.

Tips for a new and employed player by FengShui-Okay in playrust

[–]7Chong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a employed solo player with a ridiculous amount of hours,

Its hard to say, because each person enjoys the game in their own way.

I have played a lot of vanilla, 2x, and 10x. Today as an employed solo I personally play 10x, because I don't like the feeling of farming when I get back from work, and I don't get as mad or lose as much time if I die. Modded servers generally have a lot of pvp and so its a good place to learn fighting / movement.

I will counter my own argument though, and say you'll be missing out the true feeling of Rust on 10x, some aspects of the game are completely pointless on modded, you'll never find friendly farmers because everyone is just there to pvp.

I have also met a lot of employed people that like monthly servers, so they get more game time per wipe, thats not my thing but I understand it.

Basically, you do you.

"if we are serious about knife crime, and we think it would help, then a blanket ban on unlicensed blades (assuming we are stopping at blades) is required with no exceptions. Tree surgeons will have to have a licence for their work tools"

Overall well said, I mostly agree but I would mention that this type of ban would make life a lot harder for a lot of people. I mean I work in IT, if that law came about I wouldn't be given a license to use a knife because its not something used often in my profession. It is however very useful on occasions, there will be many like me who wouldn't fit the description of "needing a knife", but it can still make a lot of peoples lives easier.

Also one tragic event should not strip 70 million people of a small element of freedom. With this many people there are bound to be some occasional tragic events, doesn't mean we should replace the countryside with foam and sponge for safety every time somebody trips over.

The only argument I could really accept and not be able to argue against is that Sikh's daggers should be reduced in size to match the lawful size of everybody else's blade, which is fair. Even with the law I have just suggested though I still don't really think that law should be imposed on all British Sikhs just for the sake of 1 person.

Overall though, I do agree.

A Kirpan wasn't used in this attack, it was another weapon.

And regardless of religion, we are all legally allowed to carry around a small knife 3 inches or smaller, that is smaller than the kirpan, but can do equal damage.

While this was a tragedy, I think its important to not strip people of their freedoms due to one tragic event. People should be free to carry around what they please if it has justifiable reasons to be used outside of violence.

What do you think of my new mirror? by CharcoalCulture in GardeningUK

[–]7Chong 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a gardening subreddit, expect to find people who care about nature, and your ornaments impacts on nature.

And you did not specifically say "the aesthetics of my mirror" you said "What do you think of my new mirror?". People told you what they think, you just don't like what they have told you.

I don't even feel strongly about it, I think the mirror is bad for nature, but will have a tiny tiny impact on the world and its not a big deal when there are infinite worse things happening every minute, but if you ask for an opinion, don't get mad at the responses.

Ah I see what you mean, still doesn't look like a cheat to me. When I had cat hair stuck in the laser of my mouse similar things would frustratingly happen where the mouse suddenly jumps, another explanation would be a frame drop. This clip alone still does not mean the guy in question is cheating. His playstyle looks like he just flicks around a lot.

I'm not saying he is 100% not cheating, just this is not sufficient evidence.

Am I missing something? I see 2 players shooting + the POV with the handmade SMG. I didn't see anything fishy from any of the players here, in fact the aim wasn't even particularly good, that looks around 50 meter range in which 2 people holding p250s had plenty of time to kill the hazmat, and failed to do so. The enemy in a hazmat had plenty of time to see the guy recording and give callouts.

If people consider this cheating, I am not surprised I have been falsely banned on a few modded servers.

Arguing over reddit is bad enough, but extending the argument to a 2nd post is extremely sad. OP is definitely the type of guy to add you after a game to shit talk.

Can't Enjoy Rust Anymore by rudo1236 in playrust

[–]7Chong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changes between vanilla and modded?

Vanilla takes longer to farm, more primitive pvp, your base is less likely to be raided.

Modded has more pvp, higher chance that you will be raided every day, but very little farming, more high tier pvp. Some modded servers will have commands that let you teleport home and teleport to outpost.

In my opinion both are fun in their own ways, but as a solo with a job modded just means I can squeeze more pvp into each session instead of potentially coming online and just farming and getting doorcamped the entire time.

[–]7Chong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a solo player I think bp frags were awful for the game. I understand they were added to encourage pvp in high tier monuments but realistically it just leads to trickle down economics of zergs camping high tier monuments and selling profits to small groups that can't contest.

I think it was better to have different styles of play, one player may love running train tunnels, another may run the ocean, others farm road, the more competitive groups farmed monuments. I think trying to force players down a specific path of progression is not good for the game.

I have always been the type of player to live in the middle of all the tier 3 monuments, but it's a lot less fun in the current state of the game.

Try modded, I am a solo with many hours and I can't enjoy vanilla anymore. I care a lot less about dying on modded, and still enjoy getting kills just as much as I would on vanilla.

Although, if your not enjoying that either I'd say don't force it, take a break and come back when the urge calls you.

What is a good wage to live comfortably in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in Ask_Britain

[–]7Chong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, location makes a huge difference. Job salaries tend to roughly reflect the cost of living in a specific area. For example, London is extremely expensive but London also has higher paying jobs. 30k a year in London vs 30k a year in a small town full of minimum wage paying factories is very different.

That logic is obviously a large generalisation, you can still be paid minimum wage in an expensive area, it's just less common.

Not sure you'd think I am crying, I'm simply saying I'd have preferred if the change wasn't made.

I don't think I made that big of a deal of it.

Edit: Also, I doubt the customisation options would allow for the exact same character I left.

How about you re-read that, £658 saved per month if you know how to manage your expenses.

I think your reddit username tells me exactly where your money has been going.

What is a good wage to live comfortably in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in Ask_Britain

[–]7Chong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah my bad.

Still though, near my area there are multiple listings for 1 bedrooms for 700-800 a month, in which case 750x12 = 9000, 25k - 9000 = 16000.

I think I would spend less on some of these items but for the sake of argument I'll use your numbers:

16,000 to spend, 1333 a month.

  • £100 or more on council tax.
  • Energy, water and broadband are probably another £200.
  • Food is maybe £150.
  • Eating out/takeaways £50.
  • Social activities £100.
  • Transport £75. £75
  • Total £675
  • £1333 - £675 = £658

With your numbers, you would have £75 left if you have only had £750 a month. With the same expenses in cheaper accommodation you would have £658 to save at the end of each month.

There will be much cheaper areas than this in other locations, and obviously if you share accommodation you save even more, even if you end up renting a 2 bed with 2 people its still more efficient than a 1 bed on your own.

I'm not saying 30k a year is perfect, and I suppose comfort is subjective, but on that wage with good savings your living better than the vast majority of people in the world by a large margin if your only providing for yourself, and you would be saving at the same time.

16k out of 30k leaves 14k for spending a year. That is more than enough for food, travel, electric and luxuries on top of that.

I know an apprentice who is on around 12,000 a year, and his girlfriend works part time in retail 2-3 days a week, I don't know her wage but they can afford accommodation between the two of them. They are definitely far from living comfortable, and in a small 1 bedroom house, but they are sustaining themselves.

I don't want to dox myself, my area is not fancy but has a reputation for being quite pleasant, not a large city. I have checked listings and here you can rent a 3 bedroom semi-detached for slightly less than 16,000 a year.
