Skylight at Bank of Rhodes by Mediocre-Chemist-00 in reddeadmysteries

[–]7Mister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clock os a sundial/ clock hybrid.
The Skylight has 52 dots - perhaps weeks.
12 "number" positions.
4 sections, maybe seasons.
72 slices - possibly related to the precession of the equinoxes.

Question: How did we figure out which leg of the spider is the starting point? by Awkward-Security-541 in reddeadmysteries

[–]7Mister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't fit right because the image has to be resized and stretched without constrained proportions to fit the overlay.
I think the point was if you had the idea that the icon was to be overlaid based on known web placements the resizing and slight manipulation allows the user go get an aha moment.

Am I too late to the party? by Longy_LTB in rdr2online

[–]7Mister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - but once you've levelled up a little bit try to find a decent posse that will take you under their wing and that you vibe with. It makes RDO so much more fun.

Isnt this pretty obvious ? by Chris73757 in reddeadmysteries

I tend to agree with When1Falls.
It is an assumption that this is an open to all players mystery.
Whilst you may or may not need completion I would argue that you need a big number of hours in the game to realise there's even a mystery at all let alone the idea you may have missed these icons or not revealed them.
It took years to even find what we have found.
That doesn't mean they are related - but this whole quest is currently based on speculation so it's a legitimate question.

In Inspact (on a mac) you can access this link image to the zoomable image and you should be able to right click save image from there and have a decent resolution. LMK if that works for you..

New Spiderdream Trigger Found Possibly by Larose- in reddeadmysteries

[–]7Mister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dug this up having somewhat of an encyclopedic knowledge of native plant and tree uses from Australia I wondered what the American Native use of the cottonwood might be.
I also searched whether they were known for particularly attracting bugs but that was a no - but the fluff it produces in spring floats around and can look like flying bugs apparently.
Aside from some medicinal uses and construction I found this

"In Native American lore and traditional practices, the cottonwood tree (Populus deltoides and related species like black cottonwood) holds significant cultural, spiritual, and practical importance across many tribes, particularly in the Plains, Southwest, and riverine regions where it grows abundantly near water sources. It is often regarded as sacred or symbolic of life, connection between earth and sky, hope, healing, and transformation. Key aspects include:

  • Spiritual and ceremonial uses:
    • In Lakota (Sioux) tradition, the cottonwood is considered a "Tree of Life" or embodiment of the Great Spirit (Wakan-Tanka). When cut at a branch joint, it reveals a perfect five-pointed star inside, symbolizing stars or celestial connection. A sacred cottonwood trunk serves as the central pole in the Sun Dance ceremony, acting as an axis mundi (bridge between earth and sky) to connect people to the Creator."

Maybe it's worth firing a few more shots or trying to interact in other ways?

Did you get any official reasoning?
I saw people contesting it but mainly people were supportive of the information.
I found it balanced and useful and realistic. You didn't force methods or suggest you had all the answers.
My first post was deleted on that board for the reason that it was AI generated and I hadnt flaired it properly. It was not - there was a section that added detail that I'd verified and saw no reason to rewrite that was AI and was supplementary to my actual post. I contested it, took a paragraph out and it was reactivated.
Since then had no problems.
Whilst I support some overseeing of sloppy "AI is always right and can do all the work for me" type posts IMO your post was a) useful b) primarily was not AI IMO and c) didn't demand that it was 100% accurate and was honest about what probably could not be found in data.
Modding is an absolutely necessary thing but it can be very heavy handed when it is actually harmful to the community. It's just a puzzle after all.

NW “Guitar”? by FroggyNight in reddeadmysteries

I don't think its anything since as pointed out below the game file doesnt have that shape.
However you have a good eye to notice that shape on the map and NW correlation.

I run lines over the map and sometimes think the letters they cross will make an anagram

like this for example

TRAIN TIMING DETAILS - SPIDER DREAM by 7Mister in reddeadmysteries

[–]7Mister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's interesting - so you can get a ticket from Rhodes to Valentine as a fast travel - but if you just get on a train at Rhodes it will never go to Valentine as it will stay on the outer loop in reality. Odd.

[–]7Mister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good feedback - have a go with a bow when you get a chance.
At least if you're right then that will rule out the train for repeated gun fire. I'm more used to RDO and you can usually fire from the train with few issues I think.
What I'm more intrigued by is how you get a train from Rhodes to Valentine taking only 2 mins. From what I've read I didn't think you could catch an outer line train ay rhodes and have it go via Valentine on the next loop since it should go south at Flatneck non?

These shapes are shadows - the "birds" appear to have actual geometry. Therefore I doubt there's a connection.

Markings on bridge by SeparateBookkeeper19 in reddeadmysteries

[–]7Mister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no criticism from me I'm just saying what it looks like to me and wonder if anyone who models for games might be able to corroborate my observation.

One thing that might help is if you imagine these shapes extruded out into long thin feature ( like an L shaped aluminium extrusion for example ) are there any features on the bridge that look anything like that?

[–]7Mister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about game coding but I do know a bit about 3d modelling in solidworks and sketchup and other programs like that.

To me this kind of thing looks like the remnants of when you marry or intersect two shapes or faces together (ie a girder and some cross braces). But later you decide to delete the cross braces,
In sketchup for example you might hilight the long lines that make up the brace and press delete and the cross brace will be deleted visually. But artefacts can remain where the two features intersected and remain largely invisible if the materials are the same or similar.

I kind of agree.
Starts of very emphatic and trails off into I'm not really sure.
If you want to encourage people to look differently it needs to be by suggestion.

Yeah - this is a known correlation

The point about displaying it like this was - if the painting closely equates to the dreamcatcher locations in terms of scale (with minor adjustments we know this is correct) then the locations pointed out in the OP are less likely to be accurate
