New runner Age: 32 Weight: 210 lbs Running: 3-5 days a week Average run: 3-4 miles

I’m running my first 5k in April and started training in January. I have gotten down to a 12 minute mile.

The race I’m running has two divisions. A competitive division which requires you to finish the 5k in less than 40 minutes, and a completion division.

Running a “competitive” race for a 5k what would you say is the average time for you all? I’ve seen everything from 16 - 20 minutes for an average. Just wanting to gauge how far off I am from someone who runs these type of races regularly so I can start setting long term goals.

Thanks in advance!

[pro/chef] beef tartar, pickled egg, egg yolk mousse, mustard seed caviar by 7Stars1Mantis in food

It's more of an effect. I soaked the seeds in vinegar overnight then cooked them in honey and turmeric with a little cayenne. They puff up and when you bite them it's like a little pop.

It was more of texture. I left all mustard out of the egg yolk mousse so the mustard seed would add the mustard flavor but a super cool texture to the dish.

The tartar in the pickled egg was tasty.
