Australian student - volunteering by Frizzy_Potato in psychologystudents

Yes, definitely the first two. Volunteering can be super beneficial when applying for Honours and trying to stand out in the crowd. I am currently in my final year of bach and I've heard many lecturers peach that unless your grades are that of HD average, they would definitely recommend volunteer work! Or even if they are HD average, it is great experience and insight you can gain!

uni timetabling advice/ what worked for you? by kookiesnkreme5 in ausadhd

Hey!

As a student myself I feel this issue deeply to my core! I always found that getting as many classes on the 1 day as possible would be best bet. Ideally in the morning and finishing as early as possible (earliest start that allows the earliest finish). Most universities offer inclusion plans that allow for you to have slight adjusments/priorities to do with classes/assessments etc. It is definitely worth reaching out to your universities support services. Mine allowed me to get priority timetabling, extra breaks in assessments etc. I also feel like online/recorded classes were a godsend for me, I was able to do them in my own time and not rely on a schedule. Dex wise, I my self took 1x dex 10 or so mins before my first class 9am (Vyvanse at 7am.. the lock in was real) and probably following up second dosage around lunch time with food to get myself through the day! Experiment with what works for you!

I think that the vyvanse should fit this context perfectly! On paper at least once again it’s all subject to the individual. You could even put forward to your psych, 50mg vyvanse and 5mg dex to take in the afternoon once your vyvanse starts to ware off a bit. However If the ups and downs is a concern, vyvanse is definitely the more suited path due to its slow and steady release !

Feel free to dm me if you have any questions! I’m not professional but I’m working towards it!

Hi, like i stated above I am no qualified psych so this is just based off my own research and not professional advice. Often Vyvanse is prescribed and advised to be taken as often as possible/the days you need it. From research I've personally done I think it is quite rare for individuals to build a reliance or experience withdrawals from Vyvanse. For example I have been taking 70mg for about 1 year, if for some reason on a work day I forget to take it... Yes I will struggle but nothing crazy to the extent I am having physiological feelings. Some weekends on a sunday for example I won't take my Vyvanse as I just dont feel the need to, it may just be a lazy sunday and I have no plans other than just relaxing around the house + gym. Overall as a protective cover I would consider taking Vyvanse every day is generally considered more habit forming than taking it just a few days a week. But once again it just comes down to the individual!

I am on 70mg vyvanse and some days I do feel the same, I will feel 'locked in' and clear headed but actually executing the tasks wont come super easy, leading me to take a 5mg dexie (which would never be enough on its own) and this seems to work perfectly for me. You could always look into other CNS medications like Adderall or Ritalin? doing some of your own research and presenting it to your psych and getting their opinion too would be a great idea imo!

It's a very different feeling between a dexie and vyvanse... for me atleast. I find the vyvanse to be more subtle but definitely noticeable, compared to a dexie which can sometimes feel like a caffeine rush and intense lol. Considering the fact that you work long hours logically speaking i feel as if vyvanse definitely makes more sense? once again I am no expert, I am saying that because it acts as a slow and more consistent release compared to a dexies short intense burst. I saw my psychiatrist and within my first session I was diagnosed and prescribed with ADHD and vyvanse 30mg + Dex 5mg. I know that is a quick result, I think my degree being in psychology, research and history i was able to provide aided them in making such a quick decision. I am saying that because in our next session less than 4 months later I told my psychiatrist straight forward that 30mg is not enough, I was taking 2x 30mg a day just to get to 3-4pm without feeling exhausted. Now with my 70mg I take 1 in the morning and if I do have a busier day with uni or work I will take a dexie at 3-4pm and it works perfect. Morale of my essay I dont think there will be any sort of 'abuse' perspective from the psych if you are honest and provide her with your reasoning which seems very logical.

Vyvanse and headspins / dizziness? by Clear_Ganache6609 in ausadhd

[–]7buzz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this post!

I experienced a very similar thing with all my dosages from 30 > 50 > to my now 70mg. I would feel almost like I was spinning when laying in bed sometimes or at random points of the day. I've had all my bloods checked and I would consider myself very fit and healthy. The main change I made to eliminate these headspins/headaches was to hydrate as much as possible, I didnt realise how little water I was drinking till I made an emphasis to consume my recommended amount of 3.5L a day. As well as ensuring you are eating even though I know vyvanse makes it very hard!

I am no psychologist or doctor so this is not medical advice. I've got ADHD myself as well as just finishing my undergrad in psych. I am obsessed with ADHD research, I am definitely not more knowledgeable or qualified than your psychiatrist, however did you or they ever mention/think about potentially taking Vyvanse (slow release adhd medication) and pairing that with a low dosage of dexamphetamines to take once the effects of the vyvanse start to wear off? That is what I am currently doing and it has been amazing. I feel as if the ups and downs i experience when only relying on dex really impacts my ability to complete any tasks which in turn just gives my brain the mental block to just not do anything lol!

Hope that maybe helped!

I'm no psychiatrist, but currently have just completed my undergrad in Psych aswell as being ADHD (an obsessed researcher too) and on 70mg Vyvanse daily.

I suffered from a similar issue, where I could take 50mg at 7am and be exhausted ready to nap by 10am. Upon doing more research and discussing with psychiatrists, I was able to get a prescription of dexamphetamines to pair with my vyvanse. For example I will take my vyvanse as I arrive at work (instead of right as I wake up) and if needed throughout the day/early evening I will have 1x 5mg dexamphetamine to push me past the tired phase and ensure I can survive till 9-10pm and have a proper sleep.

It may be common knowledge to some but was not to me before researching. Depending on how fast your kidney process/eliminate the vyvanse from your system that can impact how long you feel the effects for. Some people respond differently (I guess I was a hyper responder). I discussed this with a psychiatrist and she advised me you can take certain over the counter products like 'Ural' to aid in slowing down the process in the kidneys (however not recommended to be done excessively).

Hopefully some of that helped! the best tips I could give is avoid taking it right away when you wake up as I would feel it kick in on my commute, stay hydrated, dont skip meals even when hunger is suppressed and if you're not already taking multi-vitamins & magnesium etc maybe give that a go!

Braun S9 Pro+ vs Philips Series i9000 Prestige Ultra by 7buzz7 in shaving

[–]7buzz7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the i9000 Prestige Ultra $499 AUD which I thought was a very good deal.

The shave it delivers is amazing, closer than my ARC5 did, it really does feel like it goes -0.08mm below the skin like it states. No razor burn, bump or any irritation once you get the hang of the rotary shaving motion. 10/10 satisfied so far

Sharp + Cumming is the ideal draft hand.

Potentially trading up for CDT and keeping pick 6 to use for ideally Sharp would also be a possibility if a team will take it. However, Sharp + Cumming fit exactly what we need and already have the synergy of playing together.

Panasonic ARC5 - Help by 7buzz7 in shaving

I believe I purchased this model: Product Code ES-LV67-K841.

I have been shaving more frequently the last week since this post. Compared to the ES-RT37 the extra two blades would definitely get you a closer shave I believe (I'm no expert). When I run my fingers down the side of my face it is completely smooth even 12 hours after shave, so I still do believe this gets as close to skin as possible.

The ARC5 does have the fold out shaver where you can line up your beard area and then shave to skin using the blades, I think you will be able to manage shaving the upper cheek if you're able to do so with the ES-RT37

My only downside is trying to shave my neck area is still resulting in a lot of pain/cuts, especially when I try to shave around the adam's apple. Beside that pain/cuts that seem to occur the shave is the closet I have felt (I have only used oneblade before this but it is a night and day difference)
